Classic Rock Bottom

It is no coincidence that last week's Bastille Day finally got me to do the French Class show I've been thinking about for a long time.
The simple premise is Rock & Roll and Pop Songs that have French in them.
I am sure everybody would have their own list, these are some that happen to be on mine.
It's just Music and it's just Fun!

RJ,
I'm not big on the French either- it was just an excuse for a show, lol!
And not a bad idea!
Whoa, haven't thought of OUI in years.
A good Stevie Wonder song with a creepy introduction, lol!
Hadn't heard the ELO song in a while myself, so I enjoyed that.
Happily surprised you dug The Five Keys track, but plain surprised you never heard that Talking Heads live track!
Yeah, David Byrne is the guy, and I kidded about him showing off!
I'll take the Classic Pell going to Chuck Berry, but since it has two names I'll take it for C'est La Vie, lol!
I seem to remember you telling me about Buckcherry, haven't run across them yet but it is still cool!
If you've got nothing, I am sure by now you caught that big glaring omission in Part Two, lol!
And let's see if I am right, that Bonaparte's Retreat by Glen Campbell was ORIGINALLY done by a guy named Stonewall Jackson?
Thanks for the listen and writing,
Mike

I've never been much of a fan of the French where history is concerned.  I guess they've certainly helped out in spots.  Anyway, I am thankful for french fries and OUI.  I believe that was a dirty magazine back in the day.

I certainly like that Stevie Wonder song.  I'd say it's in my Top 5 Stevie Wonder songs.  Then LaBelle.  That was the first song I thought of when I saw the show title.

Love the ELO song, but the Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band song was just okay for me.

The Five Keys track I did enjoy, as well as the Talking Heads live track.  I've never heard that song before. The only part that didn't work was when David Byrne (or whatever his name is) tried to sing to high.  That was difficult to listen to.  But just that part.

I'm skipping the Golden Pell, instead opting to award a Classic Pell.  That will go to Chuck Berry for You Never Can Tell.  Hadn't heard that in a long time and really enjoyed it.  Did you know the modern rock band Buckcherry got there name by switching around Chuck Berry?  Pretty cool, huh?

One song about the French that, as far as I can remember, does not have any French language in it is Bonaparte's Retreat by Glen Campbell.  Like Jon, that's it for me.  I've got nuthin' else.

Jon,
Hahahaha, we are on the same wavelength.
I felt the same way when I played it back, I sounded damn scary- it was just an imaginary girl, but I'd run away from a guy like that, lol!
These were only some songs I thought of, once I had enough for more than an hour I stopped- "Vive Le Rock" by Adam Ant never came up.
There you go man, I am an educator, that was done by Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band...a song even I forgot about and haven't played since...I don't know, lol!
Very clever on your part, wondering what I'll play for Part Deux, the French is not lost on me, lol!
Thanks for the listen and writing,
Mike

You know you were kinda scary when you were calling that woman at the beginning. I wouldn't be surprised if she ran far, far away.

The only song that came to my mind that would have fit into this show was "Vive Le Rock" from Adam Ant. I know there's lots more having toi do with France/French, but I'm drawing a blank.

I've heard that song from Emmet Otter's Jugband. Didn't know it was from some obscure band with a really long name. Thought it was from someone more popular. I guess I really did learn something new today.

Interesting show, but with me drawing such a blank, I wonder what you'll play for part deux.
