ROCKOLLECTIONS GOES TO THE MOVIES PT.5

Continuing on with the Rockollections Goes To The Movies epic series, as I am inclined to do, I thought I would take a detour.
Movie Stars!
That's what I'll do- take a musical look at some iconic Movie Stars in this chapter.
With songs you'll know and songs you'll be introduced to, about them and by them.
Not much more I can say, other than that those two masks of Dionysus representing Comedy and Tragedy will symbolize what you will hear.
Sometimes the ideas just flow, and I had a lot of fun picking songs for this half hour.

I didn't like them, but the music was always seeping into my head.

I am only now starting to watch Fred Astaire, and he's damn good!

Saw Singing In The Rain finally less than 2 years ago.

You hate them and I am starting to like them.

Go figure, lol!

Man, I loved musicals when I was a kid. My favorite was "Singin' in the rain". They showed a lot of the good old american musicals on danish TV, when I was growing up. Loved Fred Astaire too. And no, I'm not "funny"  in any way. I hate musicals today, but could easily watch "Singin' in the rain" every second year or something.

I knew you were kidding, you are like me...never brief, always wordy, lol!

Those Dirty Harry movies are great because he is so righteously angry- the skells he shoots deserve it so much you want to cheer.

And Clint still goes on although I think Gran Torino may be the last of his action flicks- he is getting too old.

 

I know nothing about The Marx Bros

 

 

See, now that is a HUGE mistake!
Get in there man...their movies were pure, funny anarchy...way above Abbott & Costello or the 3 Stooges...but on a par with Laurel & Hardy (can never turn my back on them!).

David Cassidy? David Cassidy?
I cannot conceive of a time when I will ever play David Cassidy.

Maybe if there is a gun to my head...but even then it depends on what mood I am in.

I may prefer the bullet, lol!

June Carter Cash was in her 70's when that album came out, but I still didn't think she sounded like a man.

I have mentioned it before, sometimes I have an ace in the hole for a show- James Dean by The Eagles was the one this time!

Let's give them some attention around here, lol!

That Tapestry album by Don McLean is an unknown classic, a work of art.

Somewhere Over The Rainbow has been covered a lot, but I am sure the Beatles Yesterday has that distinction.and some others would follow after that.

Funny, but for some reason I never saw the Wizard Of Oz as a kid on television.

Not that I couldn't, I just didn't want to- rather watch a hockey game, lol!

Maybe because I didn't like musicals, and also couldn't relate to a girl being the main character.

But now I would like to see a kid's reaction like your son.

I object too, because of that huge irrelevant, lol!

I was hoping that segue from Dirty Harry would work, was a good way to start.

But my idea was to play just those first two, I literally did go scrambling for the Marx Brothers after the Harpo thought.

The Eagles are just flat-out great!

Did you know Desperado was a concept album?
My old buddy Engineer Ken was a huge fan and told me- I hadn't ever realized, so I did a show on it.

This Movie Theme has been a lot of fun for me, but also a lot of work getting those pieces of dialogue and editing them down.

And I have so many songs and am getting such great suggestions, I may never end, lol!
Triggering those memories in the listener is the most fun for me, and for them too I would hope.

That's why unlike others, I never print a playlist!

Wouldn't that ruin the surprise if you read what I was going to play instead of experiencing it?

The element of surprise is essential to the way I do radio.

Welcome back Niels, the King Of The Emotigrams, lol!

Since he is a fellow Scandinavian, you have good reason to love that Harpo song.

And I guess you can almost SEE my brain working with the leap to Groucho & Chico of the Marx Brothers.

I love them too, never has there been such complete chaos in the movies as with them, lol!

I may have to repeat this with some other comments I see posted, but I have only seen the Wizard Of Oz once all the way through.

I used to always tune out for some reason, but one girl got me to watch the whole thing in one sitting.

I guess I was an adult, still not sure, lol!

The Exorcist was one helluva movie, and they used a couple of REAL Jesuit priests in the movie- I know because my brother is one!

Ah hell, another great suggestion...Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfield...freakin' brilliant!

No I wasn't going to play it, forgot about it.

Now I don't know.

This series could go on forever, lol!
Gonna take a break from it next week.
