ROCKOLLECTIONS: HURRICANES AND BLACKOUTS PT.2

We continue with this musical Reflection on Hurricane Sandy.
Having given it some thought,  I am the type of person would who would probably NOT evacuate my home if the authorities told me to do so before or during a Hurricane.
I have said before that I am never more relaxed than when the microphone is on.
And if I give the impression that I am a nice, sweet guy...it is an act...unintentional... but an act!
At all other times I am as rebellious as they come, especially with regard to authority, lol!
Of course I would hope that I didn't endanger others with my act of stubbornness, but I would stay and try to ride it out.
So, some songs about that, the possible consequences of my actions, and a couple of words we have been hearing a lot lately.
It is incredible that over two weeks after the Hurricane, there are still people without electricity.
Without anything!
However I will close this chapter on a Positive note.
Next week, an interruption in this series for my annual Home For Thanksgiving show.
Curl up and enjoy the Music!

Jon, I thought I answered this...getting senile.

Is there an artist or group named Urethra?
Be interesting if there was!

I am a nice, sweet guy DAMMIT, and anybody who says different better never...LOL!

Hey, glad it was Max, proud of you!

Fontella Bass? You sure that wasn't Urethra???? Damn.

I forgot about that nice, sweet guy comment. I spit Pepsi Max all over my desk at work when I heard that!

Jon,
Oh man, you liked BOTH halves of the show!
You must be getting into the Holiday Cheer...or hitting the eggnog, lol!
But who is Urethra?
Close to Aretha, but I didn't play her.
You must mean Fontella Bass, which isn't even close.
Definitely must be the eggnog, lol!
Thanks for listening and writing, and allowing me to please you- a thrill ran down my leg...but not my urethra, lol,
Mike

RJ,
Wow, best start ever- and I was just going along doing my thing, lol!
That Staying Power by Neil Young will grow on you even more given the chance.
Been getting into Queen again, but I haven't come across the song you mentioned.
Rescue Me was by Fontella Bass, and if you can, go back and check out the killer bass line in there.
I knew it was risky playing that Paul Simon song, but I always do it anyway, lol!
And how could I resist playing Homeless when so many people here are?
Same goes for Shattered by the Stones.
And making me wait, we finally get to the Golden Pell, lol!
This time awarded to Dr. John, and a dynamite version of that old song.
Came down to him and McCartney's new version- I went with the Doctor!
I thought it would be a real good closer, with Thanksgiving coming, and not wanting to be all doom & gloom.
See, you never know WHAT I might play, lol!
Thanks as always for listening and writing,
Mike

Wow. This was even better than the first one. I even liked the REO song, even though I'm not the hugest fan. REO, Neil Young, Urethra, Paul Simon, Dr John and the Stones?  Good stuff!

This may be the best start to a show ever.  The studio version of Ridin' The Storm Out.  Simply awesome.  I like this as much as the more "popular" live version as well.

Staying Power by Neil Young almost got the Golden Pell by default (I've heard all but 3 songs).  But not quite. By the way, Queen has a killer song by the same title off of the Hot Space album.

Elton John was cool as usual and so was Rescue Me, which I've heard, but I'm not sure who you said sings it.  And I like the Stones too.

I didn't care for the Paul Simon song.  Probably just that style he used on that album.

And the Golden Pell is awarded to Dr. John.  Great way to Accentuate The Positive.
