Classic Rock Bottom

Another look at some of the destruction caused by Hurricane Sandy here in New York City, but the American Flags kept flying in certain neighborhoods.
I got to thinking of other Hurricanes, and the resulting Floods, etc.
So I thought I'd play a couple of songs for them- one over a century ago, the other much more recent.
And for some reason, I chose to take them from the vinyl LP's...listen closely, you can tell!
Although there are many musical answers to this, what might be your first thought if you found yourself surrounded by a Hurricane?
You can hear my pick.
One peculiar thing that occured too late for me to mention on the show, was that afterwards as I was putting the music away I had a CSI moment!
I noticed I had played two consecutive songs from albums named Let It Bleed and Blood On The Tracks.
I should have worn rubber gloves, lol!
We made it through the Hurricane, with many moments of caring and kindness to others.
More reasons to be proud of that tough, resilient  New York tradition.
Enjoy the Music!

I have the almost flu.  I feel like I have the flu, but Doc says it's negative for the flu.  I've been in bed all day today.

Jon,
Although I am not trying to play Dylan, he just keeps popping up lately.
And he was very understandable in that song.
No duds in there, and you even joined me in my liking of that terrific old Tom Rush song.
Who knew you were so easy to please, lol?
But hey, is this a poke at RJ?

And if anyone isn't a fan of SRV, they're really not human, are they? No I think not.

Or is he in actual fact an android of some sort, lol?
Stirring up trouble again eh?
Well you are good at it, and it keeps things lively, lol!
Thanks for the listen and writing,
Mike

RJ,
Sorry to hear you are sick, I went to the doctor myself yesterday.
When you stop to think about it, we ALL live "under the weather", lol!
But I dig the reference to the Storm!
That Poco song is a great one, and that's right Scott is a big fan- I am sure he likes it.
I have to confess, although Gimme Shelter seems like no-brainer for this Theme, I didn't think of it right away.
When I did though, the Dylan song came to me right behind it.
That sounds familiar, The Departed- I think I have seen it, I'll have to look it up.
Stevie Ray Vaughn has been on the fringe of my listening, but I am getting more into him.
My late brother loved him...he was into all the guitar gods- Clapton, Hendrix, etc.
The Golden Pell to Crosby, Stills and Nash, and one to each!
Man you are a big spender, lol!
And nice what you wrote about my bringing new and good songs to you, I appreciate that- makes it very fulfilling.
Now as to whether or not Pt.4 was the End...Yes and No!
I sort of said it was over by playing AFTER The Storm by CS&N.
And I considered putting END there.
But next week, I will tackle the somewhat related topic of Blackouts- which I will be treating in a much more lighthearted way.
So I just left it hanging in the air.
Hope that clears up your "weather" and you feel better, lol!
Thanks for the listen and writing, even though you felt lousy,
Mike

Wow. Another Dylan song where I can understand what he says! Good song too. I personally don't think there was a dud here, the Tom Rush song was darn good even though it's not normally my bag. And if anyone isn't a fan of SRV, they're really not human, are they? No I think not.

Well, it doesn't say "End" at the top, so we must be in for more hurricanes next week.  That's cool with me (in case you were wondering).  Actually, I'm getting sick yet again, so I'm "under the weather".

I've heard the Poco song and I have always liked it.  I wonder what Scott thinks of it?   And of course, Gimme Shelter is a must play here and one of the Stones absolute finest.  It worked very well in the move The Departed as well.  And it's a must see movie.

I'm not particularly a fan of Stevie Ray Vaughn, but his guitar playing is killer.

As far as the songs I've never heard, Tom Rush and Bob Dylan are on that list.  Both songs are alright with me, but I'm giving the Golden Pell to Crosby, Stills and Nash.  I'm giving a separate GP to each of 'em.  That is a really good song that is new to me.  Cool.  Once again my thanks go out to Mike Pell for bringing me this stuff.  I can always count on him.
