Classic Rock Bottom

Like I said last time, it caught my eye that last week was Celebrate Your Name Week, a holiday established in 1997 by Jerry Hill.
A week for appreciating names in general, and to have fun getting to know more about names.
Since I am already late with this, I will further break the rules and make it for two weeks- Songs For John And Mary.
I did John songs in the first half hour.
Need I tell you what is next, lol?
I am sure you will enjoy this chapter.
But why would I include Thomas Edison?
Listen to find out!

Here are the links to some very good Mary songs I think you will like, at Mike Pell Rockollections:

Hookers!

Sad to say, Mary was a bit better than John. Probably because John is a sucky way to spell that name. Why the "h"? Oh, this is about Mary.

Never heard that Jethro Tull song. Makes me want to listen to that "Aqualung" album though.

I sat through that WIngs songs TWICE. Yep. TWICE. It didn't dawn on me that it was Wings so I had to re-listen. I've heard it somewhere but it didn't latch on.

Mary, mary, why you buggin'? Does it go like that?

Hookers! YES!!!!!!!!

Thought you would pass on Jimi, nice that you didn't but I was expecting a curve, maybe even a spitter!

cool series...  Indulge me for a moment if you will...

SCOTT

  • Celtic
  • Meaning, "Painted Warrior"
  • The surname Scott (Scot, Scotts, Scutt, Scotter) as opposed to its earlier unrelated usage first appears in the 12th century and derives from the Anglo Scottish Border and its medieval border clans.  The Scott's clan were one of the most powerful of the Riding Clans of the Scottish borders and rose to power in the turbulent, often violent region, where they conducted fierce raider and battles with neighboring clans
  • Some famous "Scotts"  (Given and Surnamed)
    • Bon Scott
    • Scott Weiland (my favorite, yet troubled, singer of the 90's)
    • F. Scott Fitzgerald
    • Francis Scott Key
    • Montgomery Scott (Beam Me up!!)
    • Scott Evil (son of Dr.)

But enough about me...

Proud Mary!  Duh..  I was trying to think of Mary songs during the first minute or two of the shows and then this pops on, I don't know why this didn't come to my mind immediately.  And very clever to sneak a John in the mix!

I did think of the Monkees tune!  So what does that say about my musical tastes when the Monkees come to mind before CCR?  (Don't answer that!) ... I can almost recall the episode in my mind!  RIP Davy...

The Buttersmith Blues album, East/West, a classic album!  Never heard of it...

Nice!  Johns and Hookers...  hahaha, Freudian slip?  What was on your mind?!!

Golden Pell goes to The Association ... Nice show!
