ROCKOLLECTIONS: MEMORIAL DAY 2014 PT.2 END

The Official Memorial Day Remembrance concludes for this year, but in my heart continues the other 364 days.
This time, I'll open with song about a guy who, I hate to say it, would have made it easier on his family and himself if he had not come home from war overseas.
The song contains probably the most powerful metaphor I have ever heard!
Included in this closing Chapter, the story of a tune I heard in church being played by the organist- and I couldn't quite understand why.
It called for some Musical Detective Work, and I'll re-create it for you.
To close, what the World needs is what Each of us needs.
Memorial Day is much much more than the unofficial start of Summer.
Please partake in the tradition of A National Moment Of Silence at 3 PM your local time this coming Monday.
My undying Gratitude and Love to all who Serve, Served, and Gave All!

So let me get this straight...he posted an entire album and expected you to find the one song he wanted you to hear?  Sounds inconsiderate to me.

He LOSES!

Ah the video didn't matter, I don't even remember what it was.

I just listen to the music, I don't like videos, lol!

That Hatfields & McCoys are at it again, so NOT right for Memorial Day, LOL!

Rjhog needs to go to wikipedia, do some research and just shut the hell up.

Of course it's a better video, there was never a video for the song I was sharing with Mr Pell. The only way I could share with him the wonderousness of that song was to post the entire album.

Case closed.

YOU LOSE!

Oh RJ, we'd have a hoot alright, probably saying to each other, "Wait, wait, you GOTTA hear THIS", LOL!

Jon, I'll make you feel even greater.

Remember how I said it's a pain to go 47:55 in?
Well as I was doing it I caught the end of the previous song, and naturally I went into the next one after, and I thought "Hey this band is damn good!"

You occasionally demonstrate wonderful taste in music, lol!

Happy Memorial Day to another good friend,

Mike

You picked an even better song video than Jon, and I liked his.

I love that and can't wait until Jon reads it.  Hope you have a great Memorial Day Weekend as well.  To bad we all live so far apart.  It would be a real hoot to get together from time to time.

RJ,
Blew my mind when I first heard that John Prine song, I used to play it (and many others) for everyone that came to my house.
Their silence while listening spoke volumes.
There were quite a few great Listening songs in there, tunes that said something!
Odd you thought Johnny Cash sounded different, that's the one I've known for years- and odder still that you never heard that song.
But then that's what I am here for, lol!
Frankly, if I were hearing all those songs for the first time, it would have been a tough call for the Golden Pell.
But giving it to Johnny Cash you can never go wrong!
You picked an even better song video than Jon, and I liked his.
That Tesla tune was GREAT- and you know how I feel about things like that!
Too bad quite a few songs we both picked had death at the end, but that is the nature of War.
And I now have a new respect for Tesla!
Oh incidentally, after some heated on my part back and forth, the terrestrial station is playing the Memorial Day show today AND on Monday!
I was told it wasn't NOT played on purpose Tuesday- and I responded, "Well that's ironic, the very incompetence I railed against' in the show.
When asked if I wanted the technical explanation, I said no, it would only make my eyes roll up into my head perhaps never to return.
Which in actual fact, is true, LOL!
Thanks for the listen and writing, and Happy Memorial Day to you and the family, you're a good friend,
Mike

The more people I get to jump on the King's X wagon, the better I feel! I feel GREAT!!!!

Comment by Mike Pell on May 23, 2014 at 1:56pm

Jon, not a bad song by King's X, wasn't sure what to expect.

It's a bit on the long side, but I would actually play it!

Liked the lyrics, and the sound quality was better than most videos.

So thanks,

Mike
