ROCKOLLECTIONS: MEMORIAL DAY 2014 PT.2 END

The Official Memorial Day Remembrance concludes for this year, but in my heart continues the other 364 days.
This time, I'll open with song about a guy who, I hate to say it, would have made it easier on his family and himself if he had not come home from war overseas.
The song contains probably the most powerful metaphor I have ever heard!
Included in this closing Chapter, the story of a tune I heard in church being played by the organist- and I couldn't quite understand why.
It called for some Musical Detective Work, and I'll re-create it for you.
To close, what the World needs is what Each of us needs.
Memorial Day is much much more than the unofficial start of Summer.
Please partake in the tradition of A National Moment Of Silence at 3 PM your local time this coming Monday.
My undying Gratitude and Love to all who Serve, Served, and Gave All!

That John Prine song is cool, but he's a bit to twangy, even for me.  But you're right about that metaphor, very powerful.

I thought that second song was Johnny Cash, but not sure.  Something about his voice sounded just a bit different.  But, it was the Man In Black.  Very nice tune.

Phil Ochs, Paul Simon and Peter, Paul and Mary songs were good.

The last two songs are okay.  But I have to go with JC for the Golden Pell.

Happy Memorial Day Mike.

I recognized it, but couldn't figure out why they were playing it...turned out to go back hundreds of years.

Hey, walking to church with you I could light up a smoke as we got near!

Oh yeah, the Paul Simon song. You heard it in church (church didn't fall down) etc., etc. Weird how that happens with music, you hear a song you don't recognize and somehow stumble upon who did it.

Lucky for you, though. When I get even near a church, I start to burn.

I KNOW how to do it, it's just a pain in the ass to go 47:55 in- you always have to keep going back and forth, lol!

Yeah, that trackdown of the music from Paul Simon's song- you heard it, didn't you?

Comment by Jon on May 22, 2014 at 9:35am

yeah, just move the little round button to the right until you get around the 47:55 mark OR yu can just listen to the whole album!

Detective work? What did I miss?

The 47:55 MARK?

Wonder how many times I'll overshoot it...or undershoot it, lol?

Just thought, how about that Musical Detective Work I did?

And here I am, giving you the opportunity to listen to that song! It starts at the 47:55 mark.

Jon,

Yeah, that was a good line, lol!

Of course I didn't know that King's X has a song titled "Faith, Hope, Love", I don't even know who they are- that's what I depend on you for.

Now this...this...may just be the nicest thing you have ever said about a show- "Thanks for the listening pleasure!"

Why that's somewhere between an Oscar and the Stanley Cup!

That's also an exaggeration, lol!

Thanks for the listen and writing my friend, feels good to hear,

Mike

"Pick up your head from your portable device". Classic line!

Another good show, there's really nothing more I can say. But did you know that King's X has a song titled "Faith, Hope, Love"? Now you do!

Thanks for the listening pleasure!
