Classic Rock Bottom

The Name of the Game is Namedropping.
I will continue with some Folk and Folk Rock.
Featuring the most inveterate Namedropper of all time, Bob Dylan.
He'll be the Dropper and the Dropee!
Plus you'll get to hear some of the Ladies take part in the game.
The fun is in the lyrics, seeing how many people you can identify- it's like a Musical Puzzle.
And this episode is so entertaining, you may even know a song or two, lol!
What can I say?- I just play what comes to mind.
That's what Free-Form Radio is!
But I do think you will like this outing.

RJ,
Maybe it was because you could listen relaxed, lol!
Folk & Folk Rock are best for Namedropping because it is easier to get the words.
Was that Mamas & Papas song new to you?
It was a hit in a shorter version.
I hope people could understand my quick breakdown of the song, I didn't have all day, lol!
And a double Golden Pell, one to Talking Woody Bob Bruce And Dan Blues by Dan Bern!
I did think Jon would like it since it makes fun of Bruce, but he didn't say much about it.
He just razzed me for saying "Bruuuuuuuuuuce" at all, lol!
The other Golden Pell to very early Dylan, when he could be so funnyi n his songs, for I Shall Be Free.
Maybe you too, like Jon, should go back to Dylan's beginning- you might be pleasantly surprised at both the seriousness and humor in his songs- plus the poetry of them.
There's a lot to be said about those songs, and then one day he went Electric- and the Folk people were real angry about it...it was a fun time!
Does Jon sometimes go long and sometimes go short in his writing?
Or in his ballbreaking and rubbing people wrong, LOL?
I've decided to continue the Namedropping next week, Rock & Roll this time, then probably play a re-run as I have to go to a reunions the week after.
So why start a new Theme when I won't have the time, and I already have one I can go with?
Thanks for the listen and writing, and thinking it was cool, hope it was peaceful,
Mike

This was a really cool show Mike.  I liked part two much, much better.  Maybe it was just the day.  But I think it's the folk theme.  That genre really lends itself well to this type of song.  Every song you played was very interesting.

The first Bob Dylan song was cool, but that second one was amazing.  More on that in a minute.

That Bald Headed Man song was funny.  And I thought that last one sounded like the Mamas and The Papas.  But because of the line about nobody getting fat except Mama Cass, I assumed it was somebody else.

The two best songs to me, from which I must pick a Golden Pell, were Talking Woody Bob Bruce And Dan Blues by Dan somebody, couldn't understand his last name, and I Shall Be Free by Dylan.  The former was really funny, and he sounded just like Bruce.  You'd think that Jon would like it since it kind of makes fun of Bruce, but he probably doesn't because it mentions Bruce.  And the latter had some really cool lyrical bits, like three fourths drunk, five feet short and my favorite, the scrub and rub.  So I think I'll just give a GP to both songs.  A double GP.

And that last little comment about sometimes you go long, sometimes you go short, just talk to Jon about the latter.  I'm sure he does that all the time.

Jon,
Yeah I said it, Bruuuuuuuuuuce, and I had YOU in mind when I did, LOL!
But I thought you'd be happy with that Dan Bern song cause he goofs on Springsteen, even imitates him.
Beside Steve Forbert, he namedropped John Prine and Springsteen.
See, a couple of more Dylan songs you liked.
You're not a-turnin', I think you like the early Dylan- you should start at the beginning with him and make your way to today.
I mean, they didn't make a fuss over him for nothing, right?
The Four Bitchin' Babes are great, equally funny and serious...maybe leaning funny more.
And speaking of funny, THIS is:

Why don't you do a show about me? ME ME ME? I'll send you the songs, you can talk about ME after each song! Granted, this will be, at the very least, a ten-parter but since you said you were running out of ideas, I'm just throwing something at you and checking to see if it sticks. ME. Just remember that. ME!

That cracks me up, a ten-parter!
No, I didn't say I was running out of ideas- in fact I have hundreds of them.
I was killing a little time, as you could hear, and I meant I had nothing planned for next week and with all the namedropping songs why not do it again.
It ain't sticking much, but I will remember ME ME ME...I mean YOU, lol!
Thanks for the listen and writing,
Mike

You just had to do it, didn't you?  You had to say "Bruuuuuuuuuuce". Why????

The one mention that stood out was Steve Forbert. I don't know why? Ask me who else was mentioned in these songs and I will draw a blank. Kinda.

A couple more Dylan songs I liked? I think I'm turning. Lordy lord lord lord, I be a-turnin'!

Nice show, I did like the female singing songs. None of them mentioned Steve Forbert, but they did ok in their own right, wouldn't like me because i ain't bald. That's ok, though.

ME!

Nice show, Mike!
