Classic Rock Bottom

I'll finish up with the Namedropping for now...until it's brought back at some vague time in the Future.
This time it's Songs containing the Names of Classic Rock & Rollers!
I was thinking, the whole point of dropping names is that the listener KNOW the names, and who the people mentioned are.
You need a Sense Of History, which sadly seems lacking, shamefully unfashionable nowadays.
But even the novice should recognize these Names- there are some Rock & Roll Heavy Hitters in this Episode.
See how many you can pick out!
The man who writes the most songs about Radio and Autumn will be in here, singing about what it was like In The Days Before Rock & Roll.
And I'll close with one of my very favorite Bands.
A solid Chapter in my opinion.
But the important thing is you enjoy it.
Hope you do!

RJ,
I figured the 2nd half wouldn't be as well received.
I knew I was taking a chance with the Van Morrison song- first, no one would know it, second, it was long.
And I played the Kiss cover of the Ramones?
Hell, I would have played it again if I had thought of it, lol!
Oh that's right, Cheap Trick sings, "my Kiss records on", right?
Didn't think of that one either, but I will now, lol!
And a Classic Pell this time to the Righteous Brothers.
Hadn't played or  heard that in a long time...glad I was able to think of that one!
That's right, Justin Hayward is in The Moody Blues and very much alive.
You thought of him, and then I played The Moody Blues to close the show.
It's not that eerie, we sometimes are on that same wavelength as I've mentioned before.
But oh man, if anything happens to him I am blaming YOU, lol!
Thanks for the listen, writing, and the subconscious anticipating,
Mike

Well, truth be told, this half-show was good, just not as good as the previous two halves.

I'm pretty sure you know that Kiss covered that Ramones tune because I think you have played the Kiss version before.  But did you know you could have played Surrender by Cheap Trick.  The name drop Kiss in that song.

Always liked that song by the Righteous Brothers.  As a matter of fact, I'm gonna issue a Classic Pell to 'em.  It's a cool song.

One last thing.  I was thinking "Justin" could have been the guy from The Moody Blues, but then I thought that I think that he is still alive.  That's what I think.  I think.  And while I was thinking it, presto, you played The Moody Blues to close the show.  That's eerie.  Especially if something happens to him now.

No, I was at home and played it for myself and my buddy Mike Hennessy who came over for some tunes.

Jeez!!!

"I was at no station and only played it for my friend Mike at home."

So, you played it for yourself?

Jon,
Hahahahahaha...Justin Timberlake!!!
That is brilliantly funny!
It never occured to me.
It wasn't as good as the first half because you went back to your old speakers and only half like me and a full show, lol!
WHO won't like the Van Morrison song?
I guess the Moody Blues song could be a druggy song, but they were not, and still aren't, known for any excesses- proud to say my boys have nary a scandal!
This cracked me up too, LOL: man, oh man, that LSD is SWEET!
Tell you something, when that Moody Blues song first came out, I was already a huge fan, and Timothy Leary was very much alive.
And I always thought that someday when he died I would play it on the air- not that I was rushing him, I kind of always liked Leary.
But alas, when he did pass away, I was at no station and only played it for my friend Mike at home.
You don't have to say much, don't feel obligated.
However I am interested in what you think in a serious vein, and do many times laugh at what you say.
I was disappointed nobody mentioned that Michael Franks song in Part One, I think it's GREAT!
And the Beach Boys song in this one, as I am sure most people have never heard it.
And finally the Righteous Brothers song here too, I thought I would sneak that in and wake up many memories in people.
Maybe I just outsmarted myself, lol!
Thanks for the listen, writing, and the laughs,
Mike

The Justin referred to in the Van Morrison song is Justin Timberlake. Everyone knows that!

This show was pretty good, kind of a step down from the last show, but still good. I know someone who won't like the VM song, but that's ok.

Isn't that Moody Blues song a druggy song? It's about Timothy Leary and coming up and going down and man, oh man, that LSD is SWEET!

I really don't have much to say. I like The Ramones. I don't know what else?
