ROCKOLLECTIONS: NATIONAL RIVERS MONTH PT.1

National Rivers Month is celebrated annually during the month of June to promote awareness and preservation of the country's Rivers.
For this event, I have gathered a bunch of my favorite River songs.
And as usual, there are far too many for me to have time enough to play.
So I'll just let the tide take me in that Free-Form and Free-Association way of choosing the songs, flowing along like a River.
I can already see that some truly wonderful River songs will necessarily be left out.
Hopefully, you will enjoy this opening salvo for one of our most Beautiful Natural Resources.
And it contains Music you will remember or be introduced to.
Give me a Theme about something, and I will give you several shows, lol!

RJ,
I was wondering what happened to you, not that you are obligated to write every time I post something.
Those were big names, but maybe I went too far into my country side for people's liking, lol!
And the Golden Pell goes to Bob Dylan, maybe the one award he's been missing.
I remember Watching The River Flow was only a single, never appeared on an album until his Greatest Hits Vol.2.
Here was a guy who with his poetry had said so much in the realm of Social Commentary, and now was deep into Country Rock.
I think he was tired of it, people's expectations were too great.
So maybe that's why the opening lyrics are, "What's the matter with me? I don't have much to say."
Good pick, even if by default, lol!
Thanks for the listen and writing,
Mike

I thought I had heard this show before based on the title, so I wasn't gonna listen.  But I changed my mind.

I've heard pretty much all of these songs.  And you worked some pretty big names in (Dylan, Ike and Tina, Nelson, Fogleberg, Cash and America).  And you shared your country side with that last half or so.

All good tracks.  I guess I'll give the Golden Pell to Dylan since that's about the only song here that I had not heard before.

Enjoyed the listen bro.  And I agree with you about Chevy, he's really not that funny anymore.  But he was back then.

While I enjoyed that movie, for some reason in recent years Chevy Chase just annoys me- maybe it was that horrid talk show he had that tainted him forever.

Jon,
Well there you go, June is National Rivers Month, and once again I have supplied you with useful information, lol!
It's true too, after that song failed to be a hit here Phil Spector left in a huff...pretty much the way I leave all rooms I am in.
John Lennon & George Harrison to name two, thought at that time it was the greatest rock song ever.
Slowly but ever so surely, I am bringing you around to liking Bob Dylan, lol!
It IS funny, because during playback I noticed myself how I ended by all of a sudden talkingreallyfast!
Don't know what happened- I suddenly went Top 40 jock or was jacked up on coffee- I can't explain it, lo!
Thanks for the dependable listen and the always fun getting on me writing,
Mike

This is my first thought when you mention rivers:

Wow, I did not know June was National River Month. I learn something new every day. Hopefully smeone will Take Me To The River. I want to be Down By The River.

So, Phil Spector took his ball and went home and sulked. Then it took around 40 or some more years for people to figure out that he was a complete whack-a-doodle? If they only saw the signs back then.......

Another Bob Dylan song that wasn't that bad.

Really? Some people think that's the greatest rock song ever? Who are these people and why would they feel that way. It's not bad, but it's not the greatest.

Not big into Willy or Johnny, but those songs were ok. America is fine by me, I've liked America for a long time but it's only been recently that I've picked up an actual America album outside of a greatest hits disc.

nice show, but it's funy how you ended by all of a sudden talkingreallyfast.
