I'm going to say is was WDHA and this was in the late 70's maybe early 80's. Saturday night they played big band music and I really dug it, especially everytime they played a track by Spike Jones.
Yes, THE Apple, the one that wasn't in Citifield when it first opened because the owners are *$#%%$%$ morons.
Ever seen old video of Rupert Holmes performing? Awkward dude!! And I once heard some more of his music not name Pina Colada, and it was terrible - terrible being the nicest word I could come up with...
Since this is the second inning, does that mean there will be at least 9 of these? With a potential for extra innings?
Let's type as we go again.
That's my mother's name too. Seriously, but not really. Rupert Holmes? Meh...
Next it sounds like Woody Allen maybe.
And a song about Joe's streak being halted. I remember when Pete Rose's hitting streak was stopped by the Atlanta Braves. The Braves won 16-4. My family had tickets to go to the game the next night. Of course, Pete Rose hit a home run that night.
A song about Willie Mays. Not bad.
And now Mickey. I should have saved my Seinfeld story for this half. Just realized that's Mickey sayin' "Mickey who".
Here's another name checking song. I actually recognize some of these. Not bad.
Centerfield. You knew this was coming sometime. Possibly the most known baseball song of all time? I think so. You hear it at ball fields all the time. Good job by Fogerty.
Passing It On is a pretty good song. Who knew there were so many songs about baseball? Anyway, I think, unless you play one more song that surpasses it, I'll award the Golden Pell right here.
Hey, can you play some more Terry Cashman? Just messin' w/you.
Rupert Holmes. A pervert with that song about pina coladas and a pervert here. What a perv. And then you went to Woody Allen? (NOTE: I have no issue with Woody, but it is kind of funny).
Hey, a picture of the Apple! NICE!
With the cost of seeing a game nowadays, I'm not too surprised that stadiums are empty, especially those of sucky teams. I remember going to Shea in the early 80's, ticets were less than $10 for good seats, didn't have to worry about parking because we took a bus and then the subway. Guess you can still do that now, but parking costs are off the wall, tickets are high, concessions are high. You have to take out a mortgage on your home to afford going to a game.
Living in Michigan, of course I can't go to Citifield, but I do join in the discussion on Metsblog when a game is on, we talk about the game and whatever pops into our heads. Of course there's some people that are idiots, like jimmybx who doesn't like the white man, played semi-pro ball and has 17" pythins, yet when you see his picture, you see a round bald man, looks like a chubby oompa loompa, and then when you call him out he tried to get nastier and nastier and then when you say he should get help he gets REALLY defensive and compares himself to Michael Jordan and Mohammed Ali by stating that they didn't like the white man either and, since he's just like them, he doesn't have to like the white man either. He's somewhere in the Bronx in case you wanna meet up with him. We've come to the conclusion that he either works at a pizzeria or is in the lawn care business.
Not being a Yankee fan, I still dug that Joe Dimaggio song when I used to listen to oldies music on Saturday nights.
Willie was a Met!
Another Stankee song. Sigh. Well, at least next year they'll have A-rod back. I'm sure he'll be great. Yeah. And to think, he COULD have been a Met many years ago.
Man, KC has some momentum! Would like to see wither KC, Baltimore, Anaheim or Pittsburgh win the WS this year. Don't care for those other teams. Need some new blood!
John Fogerty! I predicted that!
I'm done, for now. Nice show.
There are no birthdays today
