ROCKOLLECTIONS: PLAY BALL PT.6 CONCLUSION

It's the 9th Inning, the Grand Finale to the Series, and I am expecting a Walk-Off Home Run, lol!
A couple of thoughts- Willie Mays was the BEST player I ever saw, and when asked a Baseball question of any sort and you don't know the answer, say Babe Ruth.
He was so great, no matter the question, you have a 50-50 chance!
I'll have lyrics you probably haven't heard to a song you know well, a song about honor and the right thing to do, a movie scene that speaks to Baseball's longevity and Fountain Of Youth Powers and a Jonathan Schwartz staple at the late, great WNEW-FM.
And because it can't be ignored, a couple about the Greed of Today's Game!
They don't seem to consult with us, do they?
It's just a matter of time before Product Patches will appear on uniforms like Race Car Drivers!
Sometimes endeavors like this can't be done without a little help.
Those who assisted will be named, and they have my eternal gratitude for their valued contributions.
As many of the songs I played throughout this Series used Baseball as a Metaphor For Life, I chose to close with one of the best.
You can read as much as you want into it.
I am very pleased with how this Series turned out, proud of it!
For one last time, at least for now, let's Play Ball!

Then I'll watch it next chance I get.

I hate PC!!!

The original came out in the mid 70's, but it's really not that dated. Definitely not "PC", but who gives a crap about that?

I don't know, maybe I will.

It's dated now isn't it?

Didn't you say they re-made it?

Of course they lack ideas so that doesn't mean anything, lol!

You need to see "The Bad News Bears". It's more of an adult movie than a kiddie one.

Oh you couldn't do a Series on Football, even with my Backfield In Motion, lol!

RJ,
Excellent point about how important the closer is in today's game, very sharp!
And it is just as important to me in closing a Series!
Wasn't that Carly Simon full version cool?
Field Of Dreams is a great story- it's on tonight on TCM, and I am trying to get another girl to watch it, lol!
Can't get through to her...yet!
Major League, is that the one with Charlie Sheen? If so, I saw it.
And as I told Jon, never saw the original Bad News Bears...or any sequel.
I don't think I like Baseball comedy movies- of course I used a LOT of comedy in the Series, but not from movies.
As for the Golden Pell, to me the two BEST written songs were the ones you mentioned.
So again we are in sync.
The New Ball Game is brilliant in its biting satire!
But I too would have given the Golden Pell to Frank!
It was the best closer I could think of.
Thanks for the listen and writing old chum...yeah, you too, lol,
Mike

Jon,
The Bad News Bears?
I've never seen that movie, and I doubt I ever will unless I am with a child, lol!
Although I do like Walter Matthau, and I think he's in it.
As for the second coming of Babe Ruth, my Mom told me about it, and she thought I was the second coming of Babe Ruth!
Royals-Giants, you got it- the games have been very exciting and fun to watch.
I like the Giants because they USED to play in New York.
Always loved that Cardinal uniform though, the birds on a bat, can't beat it.
It wasn't a bummer note, it was Baseball as a metaphor for Life!
What can you do, lol?
It was a nice series, turned out better than I had hoped.
But it was exhausting mentally- trying to play Rock & Roll and working other things in!
Thanks for the listen and writing old chum,
Mike

Really enjoyed the closer.  I mean really enjoyed it, especially the closer.  And how important is the closer in today's game?

Anyway, it was neat to hear that Carly Simon rendition.

And the Field Of Dreams clip was cool.  I generally do not like sports movies.  The action scenes never look real.  But that movie was more of a story and I did like it.  Of course, on a side note, I liked Major League also, but probably because it was silly. Also liked the original Bad News Bears.

The New Ball Game was a really neat song.  I thought it would get the Golden Pell.

But the closer shuts everybody else down.  Golden Pell to Frank.

Can we talk about football now?

Nope. The best baseball movie is "The Bad News Bears". The original one, not the sequels and not the remake even though the girl who played Amanda in the remake had quite the arm and could really pitch in real life. Sad that she died in a car crash.

So........you're saying you're the second coming of Babe Ruth? You kinda look like him, if you squint.

HAHA! Royals in the WS! Now just need the Giants to win one more game, even though I'm not a big Giants fan, but it's better them that the Cardinals. Then KC needs to win the WS and everything will be allright in the world.

That's it, huh? Kind of went out on a bummer note. At least it was Frank.

Nice series, Mikey old chap.
