ROCKOLLECTIONS:RETURN TO THE RAT RACE PT.1

Haven't been to the Musical Rat Race in a while.
Thus far, there were 3 Rat Race shows for last Labor Day, then Back To The Rat Race last December, and now a Return.
Just a matter of time before I do Son Of Rat Race, lol!
But it's easy to come back because the Race is always ongoing and there's a multitude of Songs about Work.
So join me for another Fun Adventure In Labor!

RJ,
Thanks right off the bat, it was a peculiar set of tunes, lol!
I think I have have played that song by the Kinks before but I can't remember why.
Captain Beefheart is a him, and I've tried liking him, but honestly I have no idea what he is doing- there are things by Frank Zappa that strike me the same way.
See what I wrote Jon.
I was sure you'd like the Haggard tune, thought it might get the Pell- I like the way the guitar comes in at the start.
Good thought, it never occurred to me to play She Works Hard For The Money by Donna Summer!
By the time I got to the the McCartney song, I was thinking, jeez maybe I should play something people know, lol!
But I was gonna play it anyway.
I'm surprised you never heard the The Crystals Uptown.
But going by your rules, the Golden Pell to the Alan Price song just makes sense.
It got no airplay on the Radio, and if I don't love the album as much as I do, even I would never have thought of it, lol!
And here it is, an esteemed award winner!
Thanks for the listen and writing,
Mike

Jon,
Rosie is the Riveter, not Annie, lol!
I think Annie may be up to no good.
I re-listened, and you have a sort of point about the Alan Price song sounding like a Beatles song or a Ringo song, but not quite.
It's somewhat lush, and I dig your thinking- you are a good listener with a good brain.
1940's music? Why not?
And you thought it was cool!
I do believe you are right, I doubt I have ever played Captain Beefheart before. And I feel the same way, I see the name Captain Beefheart and think of Trout Mask Replica- people rave about it.
I do own that album, and have never been able to get into it, or any other album he put out, lol!
I only played that one by Beefheart because it was kind of normal Rock & Roll.
Thanks for the listen and writing, and thinking,
Mike

Yet another good set of tunes Mr. Musicman.

The Kinks.  I feel like you have played them at some point in the past.  Not just them, but this song in particular.  I like it.

The little blues section was quite good.  The Captain Beefheart was interesting.  I'm not familiar with him or the band, not sure which it is, in the least.  Definitely liked the Haggard tune.

And of course, the ladies.  Kinda thought you might play She Works Hard For The Money by Donna Summer.  The best of that bunch was the McCartney song, but of course I have heard that one.  Buddy Holley and the Crickets rocked too.

At first I thought I'd give the Golden Pell to The Crystals.  But I think I liked the Alan Price song just a little bit better.  So it gets the esteemed award.

Maybe she was a riveter. I know what you're thinking, but Annie was probably riveting stuff.

The Alan Price song sound like a Beatles song or, more specifically, a Ringo song.

1940's music? That's so cool.

Captain Beefheart? You haven't played any Captain Beefheart before. Have you? You mention Captain Beefheart and I immediately think of Trout Mask Replica. Don't know why since I have never owned that album or even heard anything from it, as far as I know.

Anyway, nice show now I gotta go.
