ROCKOLLECTIONS: RETURN TO THE RAT RACE PT.2

With this whole Rat Race thing, the question arises, "Why are we in it?"
For most of us, I would think it is to get by, make ends meet.
For others, it may be to get things, particularly material things.
Still others want to become rich.
I'll have a brief Musical look at them, and what makes them Happy...maybe!
Then it is on to that All-Important Antidote To The Rat Race, Time To Unwind!
Maybe do a little Fishing if you can.
So have a good Working Week, kick off your shoes and enjoy!

RJ,
Yes The Tubes, I just thought that would make a good opener with what I said.
And the Simon & Garfunkel tune is probably forgotten by a lot of people.
I remember you're not much of a Ray Stevens fan since seeing him.
You got it, Bing Crosby with Louis Armstrong, knew I'd play that someday, lol!
Now that you mention it, Friday wasn't a payday for me either.
Most times on Thursday.
Now it's by mail or to the bank.
Isn't that Roger Daltrey Days Of Light terrific?
Nice call, seems to have escaped too much notice.
I would have preferred you pick that last song- my man Dion, lol!
But I can live with the Golden Pell going to Joe Jackson for Friday.
Not to take away from Joe's later work, those first 2 albums of his are straight ahead almost primitive kick-butt Rock & Roll!
Thanks for the listen and writing, and I caught the clever Nice "work", lol,
Mike

Jon,
On my list of why Bing Crosby was hip, that's not near the top, lol!
So you dug The Tubes and Joe Jackson?
You know, that thought you had about some of these songs being used in the Name-dropping series came to me too- right as I was listening to that first song by The Tubes!
I commend you for your commendable taste in saying this was a very commendable show, lol!
Thanks for the listen and writing,
Mike

Gotta say I'm really liking that first song.  Almost sounds like Neil Diamond, but I don't think it is.  Well, at least it was cool to the end.  And I like that second song right off the bat too.

The Tubes?  Wow, would've never guessed.  And Simon & Garfunkel on the second song.  Two good ones there.

Number three wasn't bad either, but after that it was just okay.

Then it sounds like Dean Martin or somebody like that.  Oops, maybe Bing Crosby instead of Martin.  Yep, Bing.

TGIF.  It's never been payday for me.  I kind of like this song.  Some really cool guitar playing in there.  I have no clue who this is.  Since I'm typing as I listen, I guess I'll have to wait to find out who it is.  Sounds like Roger Daltrey next.  Gotta be him.  I'm guessing the title is Days Of Light.

Nothing at all wrong with that last song, but I'm giving the Golden Pell to Joe Jackson.  I have got to get that album.  And I see I was right about Daltrey.

Nice "work" bro.

Of course Bing Crosby was hip. He did a song with David Bowie! How hip is that??!!

So cool that you had The Tubes, especially early Tubes. I commend you for that. And then to also have Joe Jackson? I double commend you.

You know, some of these songs could have been used in your name-dropping series.

Anyway, a very commendable show!
