ROCKOLLECTIONS: SPRING IN THE GARDEN- FINALE

This is it, the Last Chapter of our big look at Spring and some of the things that come with it.
And of course, it would be incomplete without a nod to those Green Thumb Folks who anxiously wait for Spring to get out into their Garden.
After a brief trip back to my Folk Music Roots, an epic Rock & Roll song whose title sounds like Latin but I can assure you it is not.
I took Latin for 3 years...it ain't that!
As always, I hope you enjoyed this Series as much as I did presenting it.
Happy Spring, Happy Mothers Day this weekend...and Dominus Vobiscum, lol!

Here are the links to listen, and get into that Garden for one Final Spring Activity, at Mike Pell Rockollections:

RJ,

That's the word for that new Donovan song...okay.

No big comeback happening with that one- and if it's the single, it might be the best song, lol!

Oh no....!

Jon,

See now, there are songs I only rarely play, like bringing out a fine brandy.

This has nothing to do with the radio- Hey Jude I play maybe every 3 years...for only myself.

That Iron Butterfly song I haven't heard all the way through, oh man, maybe one other time in the last ten years.

It keeps it fresh for me.

Although I don't really listen to the radio much anymore, I can't imagine them playing it- it would take away too many commercials, lol!

So no getting sick of those special songs for me.

I have the vinyl of Iron Butterfly somewhere so have heard the long version before. A long, long time before. It's one of those songs that I've heard too many times, short version, long version, longer version, shorter version. It is what it is I guess. Good song for a potty/smoke/drink/eat break.

Gee RJ, if I didn't know that was Donovan, I would have had a hard time guessing.

And if that was the song chosen to be a single, I wonder how sleepy the others are, lol?

What did you think?

Jon,

That's it, lol?

I like him too, one of my all-time favorites.

But had you heard In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida in it's entirety before?

I like Donovan. He's He's a Dippy Hurdy Gurdy Mellow Yellow type o' guy.

RJ,
Only 4 songs because one of them was over 17 minutes long, lol!
I knew a month ago I would end with In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida, and how long it was, so it was a matter of working it back with regard to the songs before it.
So two songs for the Garden, and one that really had no place, for Alaska.
But I managed to work in our low Spring temperatures to supply a reason.
The full title is When It's Springtime In Alaska (It's Forty Below), and it wins the Golden Pell!
It is a damn good song that never made it to the Top Forty but was a # 1 Country song.
I wasn't sure if you had ever heard In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida- if you hadn't though, I thought it was a lock for the Golden Pell.
Shows how much I know, lol!
I would have Pelled it.
I just read they came up with that title because of a drunken slur?
Thought they were playing with Latin...and I still do.
How come you never heard the full version?
For shame, but I am glad I was the one who got you to hear it all the way through, lol!
Yeah, I agree, all things considered, I think it was a super closer.
That was one long and enjoyable series for me, different from the other Seasons I've done because of the lack of songs with Spring in the title and forcing me to think in other areas.
So thanks for the listen and writing all the way through bro,
Mike
