ROCKOLLECTIONS: SUMMER LOLLAPALOOZA PT.2

Picking up where we left off in that scorching Summer of ‘06, we continue with Long Hot Summer music.
Then we have 2 songs I have always felt went together.
But it wasn’t until I actually played them back to back, that I realized how astonishingly similar they are stylistically, musically, and vocally.
If that’s not enough, they both have two-word titles- and share the first word!
Weird! FLYING MONKEY WEIRD!!!
We end this episode with 2 versions of a summer staple, a Gershwin tune that you wouldn’t expect Rockers to do in the first place, but has been done by so many of them- quite a few I have played over the years, and some will be mentioned.
This time, one smooth soul, and the other cool jazz.
Hope you like this episode as much as I do, we may have accidentally got it right, lol.
2 more Summer chapters coming.
Keep your pants on!
On second thought, in the heat of Summer...take ‘em off!

That guy was into some kind of Brew!!!

Music to vacuum by...jeez!!!

He would have to turn the volume way up, he just firmly believed it was great music to vacuum by. Different stroked for different folks.

Vacuum while listening to Bitches Brew???

Wouldn't the vacuum drown out the music, lol???

I loaned my copy of Bitches Brew to a friend, he liked to vacuum while listening to that album??? WTF?

Jon,
See I TOLD you there really was an Engineer Ken, was hoping you could hear him.
NOT the TV on in the background or a figment of my imagination.
I figured you would have heard that Kinks song (RJ too), but the Miles Davis surprises me.
Again my respect for you is renewed, lol!
But wait...here's the nutty Jon...HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

I've never heard any of the others before? How odd is that? I thought I had heard every song ever made, but I guess there's a few I haven't ("Call Me Maybe" in its entirety being one I can freely admit I have not heard) but maybe NOW I have heard every song? I can now rest?

It's not so odd, certainly not the first time you knew only 2 songs in a half hour of me!
Hearing every song ever made is impossible, I've tried, lol!
Love the way you go off on that crazed rant, and no, you can NOT rest, lol!
Just myself alone will always be bringing you music you've never heard.
And dodging bullets in Michigan is as much fun as vacationing in a place that has guerillas in the hills...I don't go there, lol!
Thanks for the listen and writing, nice you liked both halves,
Mike

I heard Ken! Or you had the tv on in the background. I heard something.

I really liked this show. The Kinks & Miles Davis were the only ones I've heard before. I've never heard any of the others before? How odd is that? I thought I had heard every song ever made, but I guess there's a few I haven't ("Call Me Maybe" in its entirety being one I can freely admit I have not heard) but maybe NOW I have heard every song? I can now rest?

Really good show, even better than the first.

RJ,

I usually head North on vacation, not always but often.

Think Rhode Island, then possibly Canada.

But it can be hot hot hot there too.

I go in too deep, I don't come back up, lol!

Congrats on your first Mavericks...hahaha...that's one I don't have or know.

Hope it's a good album!

Oh, one more thing totally off subject, I bought my first Mavericks album last night.  It was released this year and titled In Time.

I just realized it, I'm listening to a song with the lyric "deep is where the water is cold".  That's what you need on these sweltering summer days.
