Dispatch from somewhere in New England.
Wrapping things up from that end of August 2006 Summer Theme series, I had 17, yes SEVENTEEN, songs left over that went unplayed.
Damn time constraints are killing me.
I had planned a musical side trip to the water- the beach, etc.
Ah well, maybe next year!
We open with a very odd, unusual set that includes an old folkie doing a Stevie Wonder song, a Doo-Wop for the Oldies lovers, then something in a style even older than oldies, concluding with a track from a treasured, and very unique vinyl LP.
This is the kind of thing I couldn’t get away with anywhere else, and I am eternally grateful to have the opportunity to be able to.
It is in fact, the main thing that has kept me there for all these years!
We move on to a universally loved summer song- I have never met anyone who didn’t like it.
Then a song about a summer very close in time to MY favorite.
We begin the end with an alternate version of a perennial End Of Summer song, although Engineer Ken couldn’t tell much of a difference- I certainly could!
In the released version for instance, BOTH members of the duo sing the opening- here one does, joined by the other shortly after.
This is followed by another End Of Summer staple.
And we close it all out with a song that was as surprising to me as it may be to you.
This lifetime rocker could never have conceived of choosing this song years ago.
But we all mellow a little and get smarter, and realize that beauty sometimes will wait for us.
Happy Rest Of The Summer!

No kidding man, they did an instrumental of it!
Nothing like Percy Faith I'll bet, lol!
No lyrics, it's just a short jam titled "Theme From A Wooly Place" off of their Love Bomb album.
Another good batch of songs. Hey, speaking of a Summer at the beach theme, Kenny Chesney has a great song that would fit that perfectly. It's called Anything But Mine.
I pretty much liked all of these that you played. The Nat King Cole sounds like it was in an old movie. And I hate to disappoint you, but I'm not crazy about the song In The Summertime. I mean it's okay, but not great to me. Love the Bryan Adams tune though.
Hey, at least I recognize the Chad and Jeremy name now, thanks to you. That song was okay.
My favorite, and the winner of the Golden Pell is Joan Baez. Although the song title is very, very long, it's a beautiful song. I'd really love to hear the Stevie Wonder version.
"Slippery when sweaty"??? Umm.....yuck?
See, I thought you were going to play Stevie Wonder, but you threw a curve. You built it up for a few seconds and I was waiting for Stevie, but no. It was Joan. Kinda a letdown, considering I was expecting Stevie. Why do you do what you do?
I dunno, I just don't like warbly singing, so I didn't really like that Glenn Yarborough song. Warbly singing makes me think someone is shaking the artist while they're singing.
I like Nat King Cole. Nice understated geetaring on that song. He would make a great metal singer methinks.
Mungo Jerry drives me up the wall. I just picture a performance video or something by them and they were too damn happy. Like stoned happy.
I think everyone has heard that song as well as that Bryan Adams song. You know, I saw Bryan Adams in concert, he opened for The Kinks. Nobody cared about him. Then he hit it big.
I heard Kenny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Or the tv. Leaning towards the tv.
Chad & Jeremy was good, so was The Happenings but I've heard it before. Was it the same version? I don't know!
The Tubes did a version of "Theme From A Summer Place"!
There are no birthdays today
