ROCKOLLECTIONS: THE 113TH HOBOS CONVENTION PT.2 END

Yes, there really is a Hobos Convention, held each year on the second weekend in August in Britt, Iowa- been doing it since 1900.
And I am commemorating it, celebrating these free spirits!
Guess there's a bit of the non-comformist in me...you think, lol?
I used to play at least one song for it each year, but it started to slip my mind.
And now I have realized I can do a whole show on it...several shows in fact.
I'll have Rock, Country, Blues, Jazz, Folk and maybe something else in this concluding chapter.
A smorgasbord of Music- and from some unexpected sources, so be prepared and stay on your toes.
Including the BEST song ever in my opinion, about the friendship, the brotherhood in their chosen lifestyle between these mavericks.
And finally, a wonderful recipe for their legendary Mulligan Stew:

Take a large bowl, fill it with sunshine.
Add a bit of patience, faith and kindness.
Sift a cup of romance with a teaspoon of sympathy, a teaspoon of forgiveness, moisten with a teardrop, adding tolerance, friendship along with ambition.
Mix well with stardust, fold in imagination, place in a heavenly blue pan, bake well with the light of God's candle.
Serve every day and it will bring you a mulligan of Happiness.
Enjoy...the Music and the Stew!

Here are your choice of links to sit down brother, and have a cup of Joe and a plate of Mulligan, to Soundcloud or Podomatic, at Mike Pell Rockollections:

Soundcloud

By the way, for a trippy effect at Podomatic listen in Full-Screen, look for it, it's there...and it's cool:

I don't know?

Comment by Mike Pell on August 12, 2012 at 2:51pm

Is that a question?

Then the answer is yes, but am I only guessing or am I sure?

Yes?

Really?
Everyone has heard of Boxcar Willie?

He's on those old K Tel commercials?
It's the all-question message, right?

Everyone has heard of Boxcar Willie, especially those that remember those old K Tel commercials!

RJ,
Well I make no secret that I am an old folkie.
Send out for 6 string...no wait, make it a 12 string acoustic guitar, lol!
Hey I am impressed you even have heard of Boxcar Willie.
John Lee Hooker was from 1948, and I couldn't resist that poke at the classic rock radio stations that don't get out of the 80's!
It was Paul Simon and the legendary Jazz Frenchman with an Italian name, Stephane Grapelli.
I too am always trying to catch up, and have CD's I've ever listened to.
The Bob Dylan song "I Am The Lonesome Hobo" gets the Golden Pell!
That song was the actual catalyst for the show, I happened to think of it to play, and everything flowed from there.
I mentioned, and meant, that it was good to hear that one again after so long.
Most newly noticed thing in that song for me...how good Dylan got on harmonica!
But after I said I was getting so good at predicting your Golden Pell selections, I go bad in both halves, lol!
Can't argue with the choice though- but I was sure you would pick Cliff Eberhardt and Richie Havens.
In the different strokes for different folks department, that Tom Paxton song may have been the best in both parts.
Just my stroke, lol!
Thanks for the listen and writing,
The Folkin' Mikester

Could be drugs, but they are so vivid.

And the FLYING MONKEYS ARE SO REAL, LOL!

Oh man THAT'S weird too.

Certain word are highlighted in orange, and you click on them and it takes you somewhere else.

Like "strumming" takes you to "Learn Guitar".

Worst thing...you can't click back...you have to use the History tool.
