ROCKOLLECTIONS: THE 113TH HOBOS CONVENTION PT.2 END

Yes, there really is a Hobos Convention, held each year on the second weekend in August in Britt, Iowa- been doing it since 1900.
And I am commemorating it, celebrating these free spirits!
Guess there's a bit of the non-comformist in me...you think, lol?
I used to play at least one song for it each year, but it started to slip my mind.
And now I have realized I can do a whole show on it...several shows in fact.
I'll have Rock, Country, Blues, Jazz, Folk and maybe something else in this concluding chapter.
A smorgasbord of Music- and from some unexpected sources, so be prepared and stay on your toes.
Including the BEST song ever in my opinion, about the friendship, the brotherhood in their chosen lifestyle between these mavericks.
And finally, a wonderful recipe for their legendary Mulligan Stew:

Take a large bowl, fill it with sunshine.
Add a bit of patience, faith and kindness.
Sift a cup of romance with a teaspoon of sympathy, a teaspoon of forgiveness, moisten with a teardrop, adding tolerance, friendship along with ambition.
Mix well with stardust, fold in imagination, place in a heavenly blue pan, bake well with the light of God's candle.
Serve every day and it will bring you a mulligan of Happiness.
Enjoy...the Music and the Stew!

Here are your choice of links to sit down brother, and have a cup of Joe and a plate of Mulligan, to Soundcloud or Podomatic, at Mike Pell Rockollections:

Soundcloud

By the way, for a trippy effect at Podomatic listen in Full-Screen, look for it, it's there...and it's cool:

RJ, what's with the links?

Damn...STRUMMING?
And GUITAR?
Weird, and when did THAT happen?

Jon,
No death metal lad, lol!
There were some deaths in there though.
Too bad about that last song by Cliff Eberhardt w/Richie Havens, I really like it!
Almost as much as the Tom Paxton before it...but not quite.
Now here is your usual laugh contribution you always seem to bring, LOL- this belongs in your upcoming best selling book, The Mad Ramblings Of A Crazy Guy:

the last song kinda annoyed me. Sounds like an 80's ballad tied to a cheap animated movie. Something about a talking cockroach and his travels from one end of the kitchen to the other and the many friends and enemies he meets along the way. And then, as the credits roll, that song plays. Guess cockroaches are kinda hobo-ish, so guess it all evens out in the end....

I tried to follow that...believe me I TRIED...but I kept getting lost!
Happy it evened out in the end though, lol!
Thanks for the listen and writing, and especially the laugh,
Mike

This was definitely a folksie show brother.  I feel like I should be sitting here strumming my six-string acoustic guitar (except I don't own one).

Box Car Willie.  Now there's a name you don't hear everyday anymore.  It's been a while since I have heard his name, and probably have only heard of it because of my dad.  Not a bad little tune at all.

The John Lee Hooker tune is a bit old for me.  I think you said 1948 or something like that.  Wow, that's really old.  I did like the Simon and friend (can't remember who you said was on it with him) song better.  I also kinda liked the Rod Stewart version of the Bob Dylan song.  I have that CD by Stewart but I don't think I've ever actually listened to it.

Now, for my money, the Bob Dylan song "I Am The Lonesome Hobo" gets the Golden Pell.  I love the simple accompaniment.  Just the snare drum, acoustic guitar and harmonica.  Really cool.

I know you love Tom Paxton, but that song was just okay to me.  Not bad, but not great.  You know what they say, different strokes for different folks.

Keep on rockin' (or folkin') bro.

Umm...where was the death metal? It didn't end with death metal! Another nice selection of songs, but the last song kinda annoyed me. Sounds like an 80's ballad tied to a cheap animated movie. Something about a talking cockroach and his travels from one end of the kitchen to the other and the many friends and enemies he meets along the way. And then, as the credits roll, that song plays.
