ROCKOLLECTIONS: THE DAY THE MUSIC DIED PT.2

Moving on with the second half of a show done 50 Years To The Day after that Infamous Plane Crash on Feb. 3rd 1959, this Chapter is all Buddy Holly.
To me, Buddy ranks closely up there with the Beatles, and there is a real connection between them.
The Beatles chose their name because they wanted something similar to The Crickets- something that was clever and had two meanings.
I'll have Music from both.
But the most remarkable thing in here, and you may never have heard it, is an interview Alan Freed did with Buddy Holly just a few months before the Crash.
There are the two them laughing and joking about all the dangerous Plane Rides they had taken on tour together the year before!
It's very eerie...almost surreal!
Give a listen, it's a nice collection of Rock & Roll and not all 50's Oldies!
Continued next week.

Wow, Jon's comments are uncharacteristically short and missing his snarkyness.  Jon is going through "the change" I think, he's been weird lately...  Either that or chose not to comment about Weezer because he couldn't believe he listened to them.

You're right about that interview, eerie!

Crickets - Beatles...  Cool!  Never mad that connection, but I do know abut his influence and how much their early work sounds like him.  Cool show Mike...

There is a song titled "Sheila" that was a Tommy Roe cover released by the Greg Kihn Band in 1981, its always reminded me of Buddy Holly.  Heres a link to it just because its what came to mind while listening to this ...

This was a good show, I will not single out any song as the best since I think all of them were of the utmost possible quality.
