Classic Rock Bottom

I lied in here!
I am not yet back from Vacation, rather I recorded this before I left...I'm no dope, I knew it was coming, lol!
But I will be refreshed.
The next topic in these Musical Explorations is The Rat Race, and no better time to do it than Labor Day, right?
Interesting we celebrate Working by NOT Working!
And my definition of The Rat Race differs slightly from the norm.
In this Opening Chapter I will take a look at the State Of The World Regarding Working- what it was and what it still is in many cases.
Happy Labor Day!

Haahahahahaha...maybe!

But I am closer to complete than some people I know, lol!

That song is from "Remote Control" which is actually a concept album about someone addicted to television.

If you don't have that album in your collection, your collection is incomplete.

Jon,

Yeah The Tubes is different alright, really a love song that doesn't fit in The Rat Race.

Good song I didn't know though.

As for Anthrax, it's the same deal as Tesla, doesn't deviate much, just a step back back on the vocal harmony and one forward on rocking it harder.

And I would play it too!

RJ,
Glad you like the idea.
Figured you would know a couple in there.
The Tesla take on  Ball Of Confusion doesn't deviate much, just a step back back on the vocal harmony and one forward on rocking it harder.
I'd play it.
I had you figured for Don McLean or John Gorka, maybe Canned Heat if you didn't know it.
And it's Don McLean for the Golden Pell again for Prime Time!
I am bringing you a new perspective on him, lol!
The Winger song is a coin toss for me, it's heavier than I usually play but not too much so.
Damn thing is taking forever to play though, keeps stopping, that didn't happen with Tesla.
Maybe I have to leave and come back to try.
Thanks for the listen and writing,
Mike

Nah, holiday yesterday just wasn't in a listening mood. Sorry.

No, The Tubes song is completely different:

As for Anthrax, yes they are metal, but it's a darn good version:

Oh by the way, I just might play the Tubes in The Rat Race Series, a song I like.

Cool show idea.

Pretty good songs played.  The two I'm familiar with are The Beat Goes On and Ball Of Confusion.  The latter is an absolutely terrific song.  Here's a cover version that I dig a lot.

I tell ya, he's done it again.  Don McLean that is.  He gets the Golden Pell again for Prime Time.  That is a snazzy little song.  Great pick.

Finally, another new song from 2014 that would fit this show just fine:

Jon,
What mistake? I lied, lol!
But if I do a show in advance, I take the mindset that I am in the future, like knowing this show would be broadcast terrestrially on Tuesday Sept.2nd.
So really a white lie, but I am so damned honest I couldn't let it go!
Nice to know you kinda dig the Pell, the feeling is mutual...most times, lol!
See, now here's where you leave me in the dust- with groups like Anthrax!
They are considered Heavy Metal right? And I never got too much into that, just the odd song here and there.
I'll check out what Anthrax did to the song.
And is Prime Time by The Tubes the same tune as Don McLean?
I agree, it is a kind of rocker for McLean.
"This was good."
Sounds like a B, maybe a B+ but I doubt it, lol!
Thanks for the listen and writing, missed you yesterday, what happened?

Scott,
No I am not leading Jon into a rabbit hole.
When I do the show or write the blog, I don't give anyone any thought, most especially Jon as that would fry my brain, give me the shakes, LOL!
Hahahahaha...that's a great paragraph you wrote about the dwarfs, had me laughing.
The political correctness of that never entered my mind either, strangely only the thought wondering why they were called Dwarfs and not Dwarves.
Sounds better I guess.
And I see, the FIFTH Estate would indicate 5 members of the group singing about the 7 midgets...er...dwarfs, lol!
Yeah, people say Happy Labor Day, even though it means going back to school or work or whatever.
Oh I LOVE that extra hour, LOL!
No kidding, nothing was familiar to you?
Not the Temptations, Sonny & Cher or even Canned Heat?
How the hell DID you miss those, what were you doing?
Having repeated sex with a super hot babe is the only acceptable answer...but there is a FIVE year span in there with those songs at least, LOL!
You must be quite the machine!
John Gorka, spelled right, gets the Golden Pell and an excellent pick.
It would have been mine.
Thanks for the listen and writing, and come back for Pt.2 speaking of machines, lol,
Mike

Everyone makes mistakes, I'm not worried about Mike. Plus I kinda dig him.

Scott? Not so much. Only so many times that you can call someone out on the difference between "your" and "you're" before you give up.

Ever hear "Ball Of Confusion" by Anthrax? I like the version from The Temptations, but the one from Anthrax takes it to a whole 'nother level.

Don McLean? I've heard this song before plus have also heard the song "Prime Time" by The Tubes. This song doesn't sound like DM.

This was good.
