My house is a reository for old records too, lol!
We almost set a record, but the snow sucked for snowballs and it was too windy.
You'll get yours!
The Harry James albums were lost during a move way back in the 80's. I actually might have some still, I got a bunch of old records years ago that belonged to Connie's grandmother and they were going to throw them away after she died, but I said I would take 'em.
Yes, you did have a nice snowstorm. You know what we got in MI? NOTHING. It'll come, though....
Mike, I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed this show. Start to finish. Although I'm gonna post a song in a bit that I thought would have fit within the "long time" section.
The Roger McGuinn song was a terrific start. Thought it might get the GP, but not quite. Then two Dylan songs in a row, one by Dylan and one by Rod Stewart. I think I prefer the one by Stewart, but they both were good.
Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes get the Golden Pell. That is a cool song. I thought it sounded like something Springsteen would do, but I wasn't sure. And I really like Little Steven's backing vocals. Very cool. Remember, I don't suffer from Springsteenitis like Jon and Scott and Niels and all those folks around here do.
I don't love the Billy Joel song, but I always sing along when I hear it. As for Ronstadt, I would like to pick up some of here work. Just got Hasten Down The Wind a couple of weeks ago, but haven't listened to it yet. She sounds terrific on this song, kind of sexy. But I've heard the song before, so it wasn't eligible for the GP.
Here's the song that I thought would have been a perfect fit during that one section:
I believe Mick Ronson played geetar on the Roger McGuinn album. I know there was at least one album they were together and this might be it or one of 'em.
So, you're talking 9or whining) about waiting and how it's hard but you didn't play "The Waiting" from Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. Was this a missed opportunity? Do you feel bad about it now?
Yeah......Southside Johnny, Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes or whatever, they don't appeal to me at all. Yeah, there's that BS connection that doesn't help at all. All the songs sound the same. Funny, but we watcheda movie this weekend that had SJ & TAJ as the live band at a frat. Kinda eerie.
The rest of the show wiped out the SJ/BS song, which is good. I actuallh had a Harry James album or two when I was young. I was classy.
You know, I like Linda Rondstadt, but I just can't get into her being a cover artist. Did she ever do any original material? Serious question. I mean, she must have done an original song here and there, right? Or is she just a female Vanilla Fudge?
