Classic Rock Bottom

Well it's true, after 41 years The International Whistlers Convention has shut down.
But with hope of reviving it in the future.
So you are left with me for the Whistling, lol!
This week it's Whisting In The 60's!
You wouldn't think such a turbulent Decade with Vietnam, Civil Rights, Protests, Anti-War Songs, Generation Gap, British Invasion, etc. would be a time for it.
But the 60's were one of The Greatest Decades For Whistling!
Beginning innocently with the Premiere Of A TV Show in October 1960.
Give a listen and enjoy!

RJ,
You mean the second half of the first half, lol?
Yes, I liked the Andy Griffith show, and Don Knotts as Barney was what made it for me.
So you hadn't heard Michael Row The Boat in forever?
Then I did my job.
There are so many songs that give me that, remind me of a simpler time when I was a kid and had no worries.
My parents had them, and it was bliss.
If I think of John Sebastian I play him, lol!
Here Comes My Baby is a great song, and the Golden Pell winner is the one I would have given it to, My Name Is Jack by Manfred Mann.
Funny about your son and Just Jack, lol!
For me, I had that song in my head for years, and I mean many years- it would come to me while I was doing something mindless, like washing dishes.
It drove me nuts, had no idea who did it...thought maybe the Kinks.
But I LOVED it, now I realize I had heard it back in the old FM days.
And one day I put on the Best Of Manfred Mann or something, and there it was!
I'll send it to you.
Thanks for the listen and writing, and keep whistling...I'm gonna,
Mike

Jon,
That's great!
Doesn't ruin it at all, you got caught up in the music and that's what you heard.
The Theme doesn't matter- every week I play different songs for different reasons, most times songs you can't hear on the radio anymore.
Whether they have the same thread running through them or not, I'll give you my quirky or obvious picks and people remember them or not, and can either like them or not.
It's JUST music, LOL!
I like Aunt Bea!
It's those two, Gomer or Goober, or Gomer AND Goober, I couldn't stand!
That one guy the Marines wouldn't have even taken!
Unbelievably unfunny!
So I haven't played that one song yet?
Is it because I am not up to it in time yet?
I have every confidence I'll ruin it, lol!
Thanks for the listen and writing, and stick around for the rest after I play that hated song,
Mike

Really cool show, especially the second half of it.

The Andy Griffith show is one of the all-time greats.  I'm sure Barney did some whistling somewhere along the way.

I haven't heard Michael Row The Boat in forever.  It is such a soothing song and it totally reminds me of a more simple time when I was a kid and really had no worries.

Everything else was good, even The Loving Spoonful song (you know John Sebastian is one of your staples).

My favorite three songs here were England Swings by Roger Miller (his vocal delivery on that was way cool), Here Comes My Baby by The Tremelos and the Golden Pell winner, My Name Is Jack by Manfred Mann.  I'll say it again, I have got to get me some Manfred Mann.  There are two four year old boys in the neighborhood who are named Jack.  And that song so reminded me of one of them, the one my son calls Just Jack.  The other Jack has a sister, so he always refers to them as Jack and so and so, and one day he had to figure out how to differentiate between the two Jacks, so he said Just Jack.  Anyway, the song really reminded me of Just Jack, so it made me smile (I think the folks at work thought I was a bit crazy.

So great show bro, more whistling tomorrow.

Wow. I really like this show. So much so, I didn't really hear whistling, I heard music! Doesn't that kinda ruin the show?

You know who I can't stand on The Andy Griffith Show? Aunt Bea! Just can't stand her! Wish Barney had "accidentally" gunned her down. I don't think Andy Griffith liked her either.

Still, you haven't played that one song, and I am so very thankful. Don't ruin it!
