I am the entire front row!
Hahahahahaha...that's GREAT!
I am the entire front row! And I dont look back!
Mike,
Awesome, I knew you had family money! Can't wait for the album and the wrapping paper.
This is what I actually said:
"I liked all of the songs and I know several folks here on Classic Rock Bottom like the album Love Over Gold, so I guess I'll just have to add it to the wish list."
Just didn't want Scott thinking that I was trying to give credit to others for playing it. I just know I've read that several folks like it.
Welcome to the Jungle Mike! We got fun and games... hahaha, Love Dire Straits, immensley!!! Love everything about them. But if I was forced to pick only one Dire Straits album to listen to from this point forward I would go with Love Over Gold, no wait ... Making Movies .. uh ... Communique, ok I couldnt pick.
Lady Writer is a great track, and the cool thng about it is thats it not even close to the best song on Communique. I bet some big wig picked it because it had a Sultans of Swing feel to it and they thought they could hit the charts again. Oops... That album could have been so much bigger, oh well, it will remain one of my hidden treasures.
I picked Making Movies as my favorite right? Smart choice!
So did you cut the intro from Private Investigations so it would fit your time format? Or did you have alternate version? RJ said several folks have played tracks from this album, but I assert that I, yes me, have been the only one up to this posting. Just sayin'! By the way, I did tell you I picked Love Over Gold as my favorite Dire Straits album, right?
Now this is a show I cant sink my teeth into. Great replay!
PS: In all seriousness, if I was truly forced to pick one album from them? It has to be Making Movies by hair...
Mike,
Good ole Dire Straits huh? I must say that the song Sultans Of Swing has always been a favorite of mine, so great way to open the show. For many, many years it and Money For Nothing and Walk Of Life were the only Dire Straits material I was familiar with. Now I'm a bit older and I actually own a DS greatest hits album and Brothers In Arms.
And let me say that Mark Knopfler's guitar playing really is beautiful and inventive, just like you said above. You don't get to hear so much intriguing acoustic work these days. But it's on full display here.
I liked all of the songs and I know several folks here on Classic Rock Bottom like the album Love Over Gold, so I guess I'll just have to add it to the wish list.
