Yes sir, I remember Coat Of Many Colors very well. She also wrote Jolene & Nine To Five (also in the movies).

Did you know that I Will Always Love You was re-recorded for Best Little Whorehouse? Also, how about this tidbit (that word makes me laugh and think about DDolly) straight from Wikipedia:

In 1974, her song, "I Will Always Love You" (written about her professional break from Wagoner), was released and went to number one on the country-music charts. Around the same time, Elvis Presley indicated that he wanted to cover the song. Parton was interested until Presley's manager, Colonel Tom Parker, told her that she would have to sign over half of the publishing rights if Presley recorded the song (as was the standard procedure for songs he recorded).[16] Parton refused and that decision is credited with helping to make her many millions of dollars in royalties from the song over the years. It was decisions like these, in fact, that caused her to be called "The Iron Butterfly" in show-business circles.

Alright, you heard North To Alaska!

But with the state of radio today, it would have to have been a while.

Yes, Dolly wrote I Will Always Love You, and I had no thought of playing it until you said it was in the movie Best Little Whorehouse In Texas.

Oh man, I got too many songs now, lol!

And like you, I could give a rat's ass if I never hear Whitney again.

Actually, I had heard North To Alaska, but it's been awhile. Did Dolly write I Will Always Love You? I think she did. That song was in the movie Best Little Whorehouse In Texas. I always liked it until Whitney Houston got a hold of it. Not that Whitney doesn't have a great voice, but I could go forever without hearing her version ever again.

RJ,

Yeah, I'm not familiar with them either, what are they about, lol?

That's my man RJ, knows about the William Burroughs and Steely Dan!

A James Bond show is in my hundreds of ideas for shows, but will I ever get to it?

Many times I hold back on songs because I plan a future use for them in a Theme.

A Hard Day's Night has that distinctive opening chord, instantly recognizable.

I couldn't do a top 10 with the Beatles,

Nor could I with the Lovin' Spoonful, that no one has mentioned yet.

I think John Sebastian is almost incapable of writing a bad song.

Like the Beatles, each Spoonful album, as well as his solos, are a Best Of, lol!

Yes I saw the discussion about Double D Dolly, but she seriously has written many fantastic songs.

You should really give her music a good close listen

And I think you are referring to her delightful flotation devices, lol!
Thanks for the listen and the words my friend,

Adult movies, huh? I'm not familiar with 'em

Always love a Steely Dan tune. No exception here. And yes, I do know where there name comes from.

The James Bond Theme was cool, and I would be very interested in hearing a show based on all of the different theme songs. Not because I'm a 007 buff or freak or anything like that, just because it's a cool theme for a show.

Then there's the Beatles. I've been reading a biography on them, which I'm really enjoying. I'm just about done with it. So naturally, I've been thinking about and listening to a little bit more of their music lately. Hard Day's Night is in my Top 10, with Help being just outside of that Top 10. Don't get me wrong, Help is a great song, but there are so many great tunes from them that it couldn't quite make my Top 10. I'm gonna try to update my Top 10 within the Beatles group today because I know for a fact that I have 1 addition to it.

I also enjoyed Hello DDolly by Mr. Armstrong. We've been having somewhat of a conversation about her (Mrs. Parton, of course, not whoever he's singing about in the song) on another thread. There's just a couple of things about her that I can't quite lay my finger on...
