Hey Guys,
Weren't there double-sided CD's for a while?
Or am I just hallucinating in the heat, lol?
Wonder what happened to them...if they existed?
Was the repackaging still the smaller CD size or the LP?
There was MUCH more thought back then, and as I say, we had to participate by getting off our asses and flipping the record- even a 45, lol!
Cool idea that flipping the CD thing. I purchased Bob Seger's Night Moves remastered and repackaged some time ago, the repackaging was a reproduction of the LP packaging. It had a cardboard cover and an inner sleeve which holds the CD. The CD was silk-screened to appear the same as the LP complete with Capitol's purple inlay ans silver text. Such a cool way to do it...

Mike, I read your comment to Scott, and I so agree with you about the thought that had to go into picking the song to end side one, start side two and end side two. For heavier bands, they needed a hard rocking song to kick off each side of the album. I'll use an example that I think worked fantastically from my favorite band Kiss. The album was Love Gun, and they started side one with the smoldering "I Stole Your Love", while starting side two with the equally hot title track. Although many…

Although many folks dismiss Kiss, it was pure magic for me.
I'm surprised some band hasn't come up with the gimmick to flip a CD. I would think that it's feasible. With all these rock bands saying they want a 70's sound, why not? Dear RJ,

Dear RJ,
Hey we had to each grab a piece of that record to flip it.
Records weigh a lot more then CD’s, lol!
You doubled your song recognition production!
Congratulations…proud of you, lol!
Glad you liked the show.
You won’t believe next week.
I will continue a tradition, and alone without Engineer Ken present, there is a real possibility of getting into trouble.
I am NOT kidding.
Thanks for the great comments,
Dear Scott,
I have said many times that the act of turning a record over was theatrical- an act of participation.
You were as vital as anything else to the playing of an album.
Nowadays a CD just flows on through.
Plus thought had to be given to what would open side one and how should we close it, then what should we begin side two with, and what song do we end the whole album with?
Those are not considerations anymore.
Plus the small size of CD's.
Do you think the Beatles would have bothered with the cover of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band for a CD?
Finally, listen to another version of Sloop John B- say by the Kingston Trio or the Weavers- and you will hear how the Beach Boys changed the calypso "I feel so break up" to "I feel so broke up"!
Thanks for writing my friend,
Thanks for posting this archived show Mike. I definitely enjoyed both parts. I did recognize 2 songs on this particular show, which is twice as many as on the previous show. I hope it wasn't too much trouble for you guys to get that record flipped.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the next show.

I really like this album, still sounds real good. Sloop John B is so catchy!!

The comment about having to get up and flip the album over really makes listening to albums feel real again. It was the one thing that was aggravating and exciting at the same time.

Awesome stuff!
