Aha...I knew I couldn't disappoint you completely 2 times in a row, lol!

I like this half better than the first half too, but it is just as weird.

I had just heard that song for the first time, and it is true when you think about it, there are few songs about Christmas Cards...something so important to people and common at Christmas.

I can only think of the great one, Christmas Card From A Hooker by Tom Waits.

But sonofabitch that song sounded better the FIRST time I heard it, lol!
Well, I refuse to go back and change things, try to keep it live- and I even commented on that.

Man, the songs by Dylan are actually good!

So Bruce Cockburn (how's THAT for a name, lol?) and The Alice Project were neck and neck?

You picked a worthy recipient for the Golden Pell.

Can't remember when I originally heard that Re-Gifting, think maybe the late 90's, but I loved it from the first hearing.

And believe it or not, those are the two I thought most likely for the Golden Pell- although I thought Dylan's Must Be Santa had an outside chance cause it rocks.

I smell a hint around here, lol!

Oh, I don't know about that song being covered by Springsteen or anybody else- but you have a point if he doesn't get all preachy.

Thanks for listening and writing, and nice to hear "Great Show", lol,

The ORIGINAL Dylan song and the regifting song were darn good. Surprise, surprise.

Sadly, the rest brought on another painful memory....

It was Christmas Eve. I was 9 years old. Me and Mom were decorating the tree, waiting for Dad to come home from work. A couple hours went by. Dad wasn't home. So Mom called the office. No answer. Christmas Day came and went, and still nothing. So the police began a search. Four or five days went by. Neither one of us could eat or sleep. Everything was falling apart. It was snowing outside. The house was freezing, so I went to try to light up the fire. That's when I noticed the smell. The firemen came and broke through the chimney top. And me and Mom were expecting them to pull out a dead cat or a bird. And instead they pulled out my father. He was dressed in a Santa Claus suit. He'd been climbing down the chimney... his arms loaded with presents. He was gonna surprise us. He slipped and broke his neck. He died instantly. And that's how I found out there was no Santa Claus.

Thanks again, Mike!

Loved the opening comment about having traditions but no standards. Priceless.

Now see, I have only heard one song you played today, but I like this half better than the first half. All the songs were really good, except maybe that opening track. Heck, I even liked the songs by Dylan. And of course, you worked a Tom Paxton song in (a nice little tune). I'm also a fan of Dwight Yoakam, so I liked Run Run Rudolph too.

On any other day, Bruce Coburn's The Cry Of A Tiny Babe would easily win the Golden Pell. But today I just have to give it to The Alice Project for Re-gifting. Those are two great tunes that I'd love to have (is that a clear enough hint for ya?)

Great show.
