Dear Scott,

Ready or not here I come, sounds like a threat! hahahahahaha.

Either that, or me having sex with a woman, LOL!
Sorry I am late with my response, I am trying to get those shows for Thanksgiving ready before I have to leave to be with friends out on Long Island.
Yeah, it took close to 11 years to listen to Ten Years After, lol!
And this:

Never heard the Joel tune, but the transition from Ten Years After to this was really nice, stylistically worked to perfection.

It did?
Wow, what a happy accident that was, lol!
I just acted on impulse- I was looking for something to play, it was early in the journey, so I thought let's say a Traveling Prayer.
Just seemed like no spot would be better for it, and I'm glad to have introduced you to it.
And I didn't really expect too many, if any, people to remember that great old Kenny Rankin song.
I was purely hoping!
As I think I told RJ, that Alabama song was suggested to me, and I liked it.
I have 2 CD's by them, think they are an excellent band, and I played them a long time ago on a Labor Day Show- think the song was 40 Hour Week, something like that.
As to why country music fits a Home Theme, well they do write sentimental songs and love where they came from.
Thankfully, they can also rock!
Again, I appreciate you taking the time to listen, and especially to write,
Nice opener Mike, Ready or not here I come, sounds like a threat! hahahahahaha.

And then we roll into a cool riff, nice. Ten years after it started it stopped? kidding. Always love a nicely distorted guitar. Never heard the Joel tune, but the transition from Ten Years After to this was really nice, stylistically worked to perfection.

Kenny Rankin? In case your wondering, I don't remember that... :-)
Alabama is one of the very few country acts I will listen, I like them enough to own a good chunk of their work. And this was a nice track to include.

Why does country music always fit into a Home theme?

Dear RJ,
In fact, when you consider I ended the Autumn show with that long Van Morrison song, and 2nd song in here was Ten Years After's 11 minute opus (not 25 but maybe felt like it), I didn't have to pick out too many songs, lol!
Got a lot accomplished while that was playing eh?
You gotta know that song from Woodstock!
Few of my friends liked that kind of music, so I went it by myself.
And hey man that's also true, some nerve coming from a guy who loves Skynyrd's live version of Free Bird.
What's that about, breaking my chops, lol?
I have been considering a series on the Banjo, celebrating the Rock songs that contain them.
You would be very surprised as to how many there are.
Like A Seed was by Kenny Rankin.
I really dug the Alabama song, someone told me about it. It worked.
Surprisingly, I have those suggested songs of yours, lol!
But the shows were recorded last year.
And I think I know where you are going with Simon And Garfunkel.
My memory is I considered that song, but went in a different direction.
Great thinking on your part though- just like my own, lol!
Always good to read your smart comments,
***Spoiler Alert*** Listen to show first...

Mike, I enjoyed that show. Funny, the last show of yours I listened to you managed to play 9 songs, this show only 5. I wonder why. Oh, it must have been that 25 minute version of Going Home by Ten Years After. Of course I'm exaggerating, but I did have time to clean off the roof, rake the leaves, bag 'em up, carry them to the dump and even take a shower, and come back to the show before that song finished :-)
Just messin' with you. I thought the Apples Peaches Pumpkin Pie song fit great, and it's been quite a while since I heard it, so thanks.

Seriously, the Ten Years After song was a little long winded for me, this coming from a guy who loves Skynyrd's live version of Free Bird.

The Billy Joel song was very interesting. I recently bought that album (Piano Man) but haven't listened to it yet, so I'll hear that song again soon. You'd think a banjo and fiddle would be out of place on a Billy Joel song, but I liked 'em in this case.

I also liked the song Like A Seed (I think that's what you said it was), but I missed the artists name.

And I haven't heard that Alabama song in quite a while. They were huge at one time and really put out some good country music.

Kiss has a really good song from their second album (Hotter Than Hell) called Comin' Home that's really cool (I'm just sayin'). Also, The Foo Fighters have a very cool piano ballad called Home off of their latest effort. And one more, Shinedown has a great song called All I Ever Wanted which is about home. Maybe the last two wouldn't fit since the show is about getting home, not just home, but I just thought I'd mention them.
