ROCKOLLECTIONS: VOL2- THE BRITISH INVASION PT.2

I'll start this Episode with something that has bothered me for a long time and has nothing to do with the British Invasion.
It has to do with "Sports".
IN NO WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM IS THIS A SPORT, LOL!
And I'll even have a Song for it.
Then we'll spend some time with one of my favorites, The Yardbirds- looking back, a band that should have been much bigger than they were.
With some examples of how adventurous both Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck could be as Lead Guitarists of that great group.
To close, some Brit Import Songs from 1965 that were big hits here in America.
This will be a fun listen!

RJ,
I sent that Sorrow, does it sound muddy?
That was fun for me, the opening song, been thinking of it for years and finally remembered in time to do it.
And the Stones, refreshing to hear them when they were so young, and doing other people's songs.
They weren't the Beatles, writing their own, so much of their early albums are covers, but they mastered it very quickly and we benefited from it.
You know me now, I like to play the lesser known songs for bands like the Yardbirds.
I especially liked that first single of theirs with Clapton stretching out with so little time, under 3 minutes- something he seemingly stopped doing a long time ago.
I figured most people would know those last 3.
And the Golden Pell goes to The Yardbirds, with a song I thought you'd know, lol!
Shapes Of Things is a classic, and I'll take it!
Thanks for the listen and writing bro,
Mike

Nice collection of tunes Mike.  I thought that first track sounded kinda like the Stones, I just wasn't sure.  You can tell they were young.

I've always thought For Your Love was a cool track.  Didn't really know it was the Yardbirds.  Heart Full Of Soul sounded quite familiar too.  But not the rest of the bunch.

However, I have heard Game Of Love and I like it.  I'm pretty sure I've heard those last two tracks as well. Liked them both too.

As for the Golden Pell, lets go with Shapes Of Things by The Yardbirds.

Enjoyed it brother.

Jon,
The DOGS not the people run and jump, but mostly they just prance around.
Listen, here's another Mike Pell Moment Of Clarity- if you can participate in something with a beer in one hand and a cigarette in your mouth, IT'S NOT A SPORT!
That goes for darts, bowling and DOG WALKING, LOL!
I'm looking at a CD in front of me called Live Yardbirds Featuring Jimmy Page that I don't think I've ever played.
But it says 1968, so I guess that's not it.
Yes, those Yardbirds guys never amounted to much, lol!
Thanks for the listen and writing, and liking this half,
Mike

Of course it's a sport. They run and jump.

If you don't have it, you need to get "Birdland", the 2003 release from The Yardbirds. Granted, it is an album of songs re-recorded, but it is an amazing album with a plethora of guest stars. Really worth a purchase. However, if you don't feel like spending the $$$, I'm sure something can be worked out.

The Yardbirds had some awesome songs, didn't they? Just a shame none of the group members ever went on to other things.

Nice show, I like it. A lot.
