ROCKOLLECTIONS: MONTEREY POP AT 50 PT.3

The 50th Anniversary of the Monterey Pop Festival was this past weekend.

Monterey was the first multi-cultural concert, with both established and new acts.
It was the first racially mixed, primarily white, audience for Otis Redding- who became a Pop Sensation as a result.
But most importantly, all these disparate artists got to MEET each other.
And they got the feeling that something big was about to happen to Popular Music.
The times they were a-changin’!
And The Who really did smash their instruments...and Jimi Hendrix was watching!
Must have been nice to be there that weekend.

Man love those cultural references that sometimes go over my head.

Never saw Pretty In Pink.

But I am, lol!

It's Fyre Festival cause it's like burning money!

Duckie from Pretty In Pink. Check it out.

I read somewhere that there will be another Fyre festival?

Jon,
I cannot divulge the Secrets Of Hippiedom!
The Airplane did run through them, I had more songs by them, including Fred Neil’s The Other Side Of This Life, but not enough time.
They were very close to Neil from Village Days, and reference him many times in songs.
Who’s Duckie? You? I’ll bet it is!
Hahahahaha, the Fyre Festival.
Imagine waiting eagerly for the next one of those, lol?
Thanks for the listen & writing,
Mike

You're going to do some hippy things during the break?

Please, tell me more.

Boy, Jefferson Airplane flew thru those songs, didn't they?

Duckie likes Otis.

Hey, at least this wasn't the Fyre Festival, amiright??????
