ROCKOLLECTIONS: NEW MUSIC FROM OLD FRIENDS PT.2 END

More Music from some Old Friends who released new albums in 2014.
I was happily surprised by how good Neil Diamond's Melody Road is- it is simply comforting Neil Diamond type Music, he hasn't lost a step.
From Robert Plant came an album with a different sound for me, but I like it.
And very quietly Robert Gordon put out an album called I'm Coming Home, as usual with mostly Cover Songs, but I'll play a couple of Originals he does on it.
Again all these songs are just what I heard and liked, very uncomplicated.
Oh, there is one of those surprise false endings here, like in some songs we've heard over the years, lol!
And again, enjoy!

RJ,
That Neil Diamond album is real good- I just picked 3, there are others you'd like I am sure.
He sounds like the old writer and singer we grew up with.
Funny how we are sometimes on the same wavelength, I heard that first track on the Robert Plant album, and I thought this is gonna be good!
It went slightly downhill from there, but all in all I liked the album, and that also is my favorite on the album.
Robert Gordon brought back Rockabilly before the Stray Cats!
He teamed up with the legendary guitarist Link Wray and together they put out some great stuff in the. I'm guessing here, late 70's & early 80's.
And he gets the Golden Pell.
Now what was that first song I played, lol?
Low Down Weekend I think it was.
I've always liked Gordon but honestly his first two or three albums are his best work- so I'd start there.
Let me know, I'll shoot you a couple, good old Rock & Roll stuff!
Yeah, I should do a lot of things more often.
But work is coming in I can't ignore and my mind is all over the place.
Thank God I found the old Day The Music Died shows, cause I really was going to do them again, I couldn't ignore the show falling on Feb 3rd- but it was a relief not to chase down all those things again.
Of course it would turn out different, since it is free-form and subject to the blowing winds.
I haven't done any of those album spotlight shows but I should cause they are easy- no digging, just one album, lol!
Thanks for the listen and writing my good friend,
Mike

Neil Diamond still sounds pretty good if you ask me.  I think, probably, out of the three songs that you played, I prefer the first one, but all of them sound fine.

I have the Robert Plant album.  That first track is easily my favorite on the album.  It has the taste of Americana, and I'm a fan of that genre.  So kudos for that.  But overall, I'm just okay with the album.  I can spin it or not, but most likely won't.

Robert Gordon is one I'm not at all familiar with.  Who is he?  Anyway, I kinda like this.  It definitely sounds old.  I like the steel guitar in that first track.  And that's the track I'm handing the Golden Pell to.

Nice job Mike.  I like this subject.  You should do it more often.  Also haven't heard one of those album spotlight shows lately.

What's this about switching colluding partners?
Oh forget it, I don't want to know, lol!

Jon,
That's amazing, you woke up with a Neil Diamond song in your head which became the WWEB song for the day and I start off with Neil Diamond!
We do indeed have brilliant minds!
But what's a drive time show, lol?
I tell you, for me Melody Road is a real nice comforting album, so I recommend it.
And the Robert Plant album, you picked it as my worst album of the year?
There goes that drive time show, lol!
Like I told Scott maybe I was just in a nice generous mood when I listened!
I just simply like  Robert Gordon, and it matters not what others think.
It's MY show...and it's all about ME, LOL!
If you were to give out awards, it would go to Neil Diamond, and you would be right.
But you don't, so you're...I don't know!
Thanks for the listen and writing,
Mike

Scott,
I wasn't glad about the storm- I LOVE snow, we don't get enough of it, and I wanted 16 FEET not 16 inches, lol!
To me, Neal Diamond's voice hasn't changed too much, and that was also a surprise- but you're right and it's the biggest thing, we can still hear what made him great with those tunes, very pleasant and nostalgic!
I recommend the album Melody Road.
Well, we both like the Robert Plant album.
I haven't always liked his solo stuff, and this did sound strange to me musically...hey maybe I was just in a nice generous mood when I listened, lol!
So I'm just going with it too!
Now I've always been a fan of Robert Gordon, so I never ignore his releases or find something to like.
And that's right, you sometimes give out a G'Pell too, lol!
Can't argue with Neil Diamond getting it, his was the best music in the 2nd half!
Thanks for the listen and writing,
Mike

RJ is going to be PO'd that you switched colluding partners!

So, this morning when I woke up I had a Neil Diamond song in my head which becamse the WWEB song for the day and your show starts off with Neil Diamond! What brilliant minds! We should do a drive time show! YEAH!

I liked those Neil Diamond songs, they were quite good. Almost good enough to possibly warrant a purchase.

As for the Robert Plant album, well..........yeah. Actually, no. I did not like that album at all, I picked it as my worst album of the year. He's obviously doing what he likes now, but it doesn't mean I have to like it. And I don't.

The Robert Gordon songs were ok, but nothing special.

If I were to give out awards, it would go to Neil Diamond. But I don't.
