I had a feeling Nightwish was up, but the Dead Sara pick surprises me.

But I looked back at their previous album that I posted to see what you said:

Dead Sara--Thumbs Up

Damn, this chick has got one hell of a voice. Very emotive voice, she sucks you into the music. She reminds me a bit of Maria Brink from In This Moment. Nice geetar work as well, I love women that rock and play geetar! "Timed Blues" is a killer song, anyone that doesn't like it is silly and not my friend.

Hey, at least you are consistent.

So you had to check up on me? That seems a bit......odd.

Nightwish:

1. Weak Fantasy - There is some seriously cool musical work going on in the verses here.  And the acoustic work is a nice touch.  But it sounds like a totally different song with the woman singing (that's the good part) as compared to the part with the man singing (the not so good part).  Luckily the male part is fairly short, so I'm giving the benefit of a doubt to this one and giving it a plus 1.

2. Yours Is An Empty Hope - This song really does nothing for me. Zero.

3. My Walden - I do like the sort of Celtic feel to this one, but the song doesn't jump out at me overall.  Plus point five.

4. Edema Ruh - I don't know, I just have a hard time getting into this musical style.  Although some of the guitar playing has an eighties hair band feel to it.  And some of it is quite bluesy.  This would be another average song  for me.  Plus point five.

So, overall, I've got 2 out of 4, which even Jon knows is 50 percent.  This is definitely not in my wheelhouse.

NIGHTSWEATS ... Two Thumbs wishing these guys would quit releasing new music so frequently!

Queue the Viking battle!! Epic Rock, or overly dramatic rock?  So very atmospheric, you pick the backdrop, just make it 100% Fantasy with a bit of Medieval and Space Alien and then you've got the feel of this.  I would add a Celtic Women reference but I'm over that, at least from a listening perspective.  Seeing on the other hand, well...  that's a different story. Yours Is An Empty Hope describes perfectly the feeling I had listening to this!  What demographic likes this? (outside of Jon) What country gets into this? ... I just figured out when I would listen to this!  On a castle tour of old Europe, Austria maybe?  Transylvania maybe better though... Not for me...  ever...

I found a new demographic for NightWish...  LARPers...

Dead Sara:

1. Suicidal - Not sure about this one.  It's very frantic.  Plus point five.

2. Mona Lisa - I think this is the song they did the video to.  It's definitely a song that grows on you. It's just catchy.  Plus one.

3. Mr. Mr. - This has a throwback feel to it.  I like it.  At least the guitar is not over distorted.  Just a little distortion will do ya.  She's definitely a good vocalist.  She sounds like the chick from In This Moment a lot on this song.  Plus one.

4. Blue Was The Beautiful You - Man, she put's a lot of soul into this track.  Definitely not radio friendly, but I get some Zeppelin vibes from her vocals here.  Plus one.

5. For You I Am - At first I wasn't sure about this one, but it takes on an epic feel as it goes on.  Maybe that droning guitar, or maybe the lyrics.  It is a bit repetitive.  Hmmmm...guess I'll give it plus point five.

So let's see, that's a total of 4 out of 5, which is a rockin' 80 per cent.  I tell you this much, I like this better than the previous album that I bought.  It's reminiscent of last year's Going To Hell by The Pretty Restless.  I might just pick this one up.

Guess I should check out The Pretty Restless?

Yeah, whatever.  Guess I had the Young and the Restless on my mind.

GRATEFUL DEAD SARA YOU'RE THE POET IN MY HEART ... Two Thumbs even

Cool beat and cool bass line on that opener, her singing is little, uh, screamy, but not in an annoying way.  Ohhh swearing!  I don't know if I can take it...  Mona Lisa, tones her singing down quite nicely.  Frenetic tune, kinda liked it, but not really into her screaming style.  Love that guitar tone on Mr Mr.  Great tune actually.  So good that Blue Was The Beautiful You was a let down.  Didn't care for that one or the closer.  Really a 3 out of 5 affair for me.  I liked the previous release better...
