Motor Sister - Ride

6. A Hole

7. This Song Reminds Me Of You

8. Get That Girl

9. Fork In The Road

10. Devil Wind

***brief biography taken from imdb.com:

MOTOR SISTER is comprised of a veritable super group originally assembled to jam for Scott Ian's fiftieth birthday party; Mother Superior founder, guitarist, and vocalist Jim Wilson fronts the band, with Scott Ian on guitar, Pearl Aday on backing vocals, Joey Vera on bass, and John Tempesta on drums. The event led to a record of Ian's favorite Mother Superior songs, produced by Jay Ruston (Anthrax, Steel Panther) and attempting to recapture the same spontaneous energy MOTOR SISTER generated at their first makeshift gig. MOTOR SISTER: RIDE captures the recording of that album with interviews from the band members as they tell the story of how MOTOR SISTER came to be.

And the album cover of the year (so far) makes an appearance...

Yep, that We Are Harlot cover is somethin' else isn't it?

you posted an album named We Are Harlot?  hmmm...  didnt see that...

We Are Harlot--Thumbs Down

had to listen to this twice to see if there was anything I liked about it, and both times there was nothing. There's really nothing new offered here, all songs were quite bland and immediately forgettable. No hooks, the singer isn't particularly that good. Guess the last song was nu-metal but it sounds like something from the 90's that should have stayed in the 90's. Not memorable at all.

MOTOR SISTER ...  Two eyes staring at th....  wait, two thumbs up!

Ever bought an album just because of the cover?  Well I almost did this one but thought better of it since I am now way more mature than the former impulsive version of me.  That and I'm not much of an Anthrax fan so I was skeptical.  First song has a great Uncle Ted like riff, its a good start.  Weak vocalist, at least on the second track he sounded flat.  But again, the riff-age is really working for me, and the geetarmanship is stellar.  Get That Girl is the best of the lot so far.  The bridge in Fork In The Road made all the difference in a so-so tune, very cool!  The Acoustic geetar was unexpected fro this group, but this is very good.  Much better than expected.  Wish listing this one ASAP!

Kinda funny that you like this one.  It was a last second pick for posting.  I was definitely going with We Are Harlot.  My original plans were to post Soto, but I just cannot get into that album at all.  I know it's not about what I like, the spirit of this forum is posting new stuff for others to evaluate, but I just don't like the Soto album.  Doesn't mean it won't make an appearance down the road when I'm light on choices, but I don't think any of the forum regulars are dying to hear it.

Glad you enjoyed this one, I have to spin it again (haven't done so in a while now).

I seen that Soto album as well.  The debut of WET was OK, but the follow up was just as you describe, sterile,so I never bought into anymore of his stuff.

Yep, this is the last one I will buy.  Wish I wouldn't have bought it.  It's much heavier, but sounds like music 20 year old kids would be making.  Not slamming 20 year old kids, but just doesn't work for me.

Motor Sister--Thumbs would have been 3/4 up, but it needs to be between 1/2 and 3/4

The singer is a bit weak, but the geetaring absolutely jams like a jar of frozen jelly. I wish Pearl was the lead vocalist, but can't have everything. I had to dock for the end of "Fork In The Road". That last sound was quite bad and made me think of a certain song by a sucky band that I will not mention here for fear of this thread turning into absolute silliness.

As for the album cover, I absolutely dread thinking about what you guys must do everytime you see the Blind Faith cover.

I think were on the same page as far as the vocals and geetar go.  I liked the songs maybe a bit more than you  described.  As far as album covers go, well...  I have no idea what youre referring to...

I have no idea what youre seeing on this cover....
