It took us more than 40 years, but finally we got an Australian band that doesn't sound like AC/DC. Well it's sort of a band, because Kaato is short in Japanese for Kurt Lowney who leads the band and the project was done with many blessings from Mitch Malloy. Also, Kaato might not sound like the Australien treasure-band, but they do cherish the 70's vibe. They list such acts like: Aerosmith, Boston, Styx and Zeppelin as their influences plus everything that makes you want to dance. Personally, when I want to bust some wicked moves on the floor, I prefer my music to be Disco, thankyouverymuch, as well as the impact of Boston and Styx are lost on me, but I can attest to little bit of Aero and Led in the mix.

Oh, and if you want to watch something from Kaato, then scroll down. If you want to hear more from them, then scroll back up.

OH2, The self titled CD was repackaged and released in Japan recently with a nice Obi + Lyrics sheet and a CD-R that has two studio bonus tracks: Rock Blossom / Brandy for the first 500 print. Although, those songs could be high quality demos. Not much info is available on them, but they are just as good as the rest of the material, except slightly less loud. Definitely worth the price, especially since it cost me same as the regular edition would have.

Well, no love for Men At Work. They're Australian and didn't sound anything like AC/DC.

The first song DID have an AC/DC vibe at the beginning, kind of. Then it went away. Yeah, I see the 70's influence here, especially track #3 because of the COWBELL. I believe that was just the right amount of COWBELL as well.

Kind of lost my attention with the last two tracks, but really liked the first three.

Oh, I see a 60's vibe (yes, I can see vibes) with the hair of the guy who sings the songs.

This isn't bad at all.  I hear a bit of the 70's vibes you vibers are referring to, but I get more of an early 80's vibe.

That's not a bad thing as far as I'm concerned.  I loved the early 80's, a nice continuation of the 70's.

The riffs are decent, as are the guitar leads.  Vocals too.

The bass is really good, especially on the first couple of tracks.

Unlike Jon, the first four tracks work pretty good for me.  The last one, not so much, though it's not terrible.

Can't say I have a fever to run out and get this, but it's pretty good 80's music.
