ALBUM OF THE WEEK # 362 MEAT LOAF - BAT OUT OF HELL II: BACK INTO HELL

Disclaimer: All info that does not reside in my brain is gathered from wikipedia.com (mostly because Jon can't stand it) unless otherwise noted.

I'll be the first to tell you that I love Bat Out of Hell by Meat Loaf.  I can't really say that I feel the same way about 1993's Bat Out Of Hell II: Back Into Hell.  Regardless of my opinion, the sequel is your CRB Album of the Week. This album was pretty dang huge in it's own right.  It hit number one in many countries including the US, where it was certified 5 X Platinum.  That sales number may have only been half of what the first Bat album sold, but 5 million copies is not something to sneeze at.

I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That) was a number one single.  I think it's a good song, but my favorite on the album is Rock And Roll Dreams Come Through.  The only other thing I have to say about the album is that the song titles are way too long.

Tracks:

1. I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That)

2. Life Is A Lemon And I Want My Money Back

3. Rock And Roll Dreams Come Through

4. It Just Won't Quit

5. Out Of The Frying Pan (And Into The Fire)

6. Objects In The Rear View Mirror May Appear Closer Than They Are

7. Wasted Youth

8. Everything Louder Than Everything Else

9. Good Girls Go To Heaven (Bad Girls Go Everywhere)

10. Back Into Hell

11. Lost Boys And Golden Girls

No mention of the album length? No mention of 75 minutes?

I kinda enjoy this even though it's WAAAAAY over-the-top, but it's what's expected. Took me years and years to finally pick this up after it was released because they played that first song a lot on the MTV so I guess I was tired of it rather quickly. But twenty years or so later, I am happy with my purchase especially since it was probably just a couple of bucks. SO damn overblown, but you gotta love it. Still like III the best since it's the heaviest, but they're all good.

I knew you'd mention it if I didn't...
