I listened to that Illuminated Sky by Prospekt.

I thought it was pretty good.

I only heard it once so far, but plan to listen again. It's definitely Prog Metal, and it sounded good/okay, but the songs weren't THAT strong (not as Threshold's new album), but I might change my mind with repeated listening.

Yeah, the new Threshold is the best Prog Metal release of the year, so far and in a Prog. "anything" scheme, it's only next to the Hackett album, for me, but I was surprised with Prospekt, nonetheless. This was the first time I heard of them (their 2nd album) and I think they are worth keeping eye on. I thought the Metal parts were too fast for my taste, but they might mature into a Prog Rock band, or restrain themselves a bit and that could be something beautiful.

I agree, that they at times sounded too fast for my liking as well. Those tracks tends to blend into one and other, and sound very much the same.

Arcane Roots's new album is probably better, only they have that "young" sound, that might be too young for me. I did expect screams and growling, but luckily there wasn't any growling, and the stupid screams were at the end of some of the songs. An album that mixes quiot and noisy tracks, and with good songs. But maybe a kids band?!

Caligula's House sounds almost exactly like Haken did, when they started out, so in a way, they might develope in to something good. I can't decide, if I should give that album a few chances or leave it at that first listening experience. They almost sounds like a Haken Tribute-band to me, and then I'd rather listen to Haken.

I've been pleasently surprised about the rather good Prog Metal-albums (one of them Great), I've heard the last month or so. 2017 doesn't seem to be a bad music-year after all.

I heard one song from Caligula's Horse. Didn't really prompted more listening so I left it at that.

I'm really complementing to buy another Prog. album I just heard. It's truly a masterpiece, but there is so many other albums that have a great potential coming out towards the end of the year, that I'm not sure I'll buy it. Maybe, if the whole band signs it. I just sent them a message.

I don't think this is going to be a bad year at all. For me it's already pretty good and we are getting closer to the end of the year. You can expect it to get better. Most of the bands who don't have to prove themselves, like to cash on Christmas shopping. The first half of the year is usually reserved for those artists who want to do extensive touring (from the bigger names) and smaller bands release their projects at that time, for the fear of getting smothered when the rush hour hits.
