Classic Rock Bottom

Let's check back in with Hall & this week.  It's been a while since we've done so.  H2O is the eleventh studio album for the pop/soul duo.  It was released ten years after their debut album.  The reason I mention it is that seems to me like a pretty long way into a career to score your biggest album.  Maybe not, but is seems so to me.  Anyway, the album rose all the way to number 3 on the way to selling enough copies to receive a Double Platinum certification.

Hall & Oates also released three Top 10 hit singles from the album.  Maneater was the fifth of six number one hits for the pair.  It spent four weeks in the top slot.  Family Man topped out at number six and is among my very most favorite Hall & Oates tunes.  Finally, One On One made it up to number seven to complete the trifecta.

Most likely, if you are reading this, you are quite familiar with those three singles at the very least.  If not, or if you're just in the mood to check out some album cuts from Daryl and John, you can grab yourself a remastered copy for less than ten bucks on Amazon.  It is also available through Amazon streaming if you happen to subscribe.

Of course I listened to this back in January, but it's still a fine enough listen to give it a spin once again, so soon. Really like this album, has a bit of everything. Had this on cassette when it came out, kind of hid it from everyone since it was H&O and someone like me shouldn't be listening to something like this. But I did. And I have other albums by 'em as well, so all is good in the world or something like that. Really, really did song #6, so damn catchy, but most everything else here is as well. Cool album, but the cover is a bit too sweaty.
