77. Pablo Cruise - The Best Of Pablo Cruise 20th Century Masters The Millennium Collection

78. Shooter Jennings - Family Man

I have that Riot album, which seems to be the one most people talk about in relation to the band. But for me, I didn't really get into it all that much.

Here's what I listened to this week:

Accept - Blind Rage

Accept - Stalingrad

Accept - The Rise of Chaos

Disturbed - The Sickness

Disturbed - Believe

Disturbed - Ten Thousand Fists

Disturbed - Indestructible

Disturbed - Asylum

Metal Church - Damned If You Do

Overkill - The Years of Decay

Armored Saint - Symbol of Salvation

Don Henley - The End of the Innocence

Joe Satriani - Not of this Earth

It's the general consensus that Grunge killed Hair Metal (perhaps on this side of the Atlantic because Grunge never took off in Europe), however, I was just as guilty of the declining interest in Pop-Metal as all those Grunge fans. The late 80's, and most of the 90's were all about Instrumental music for me. Mainly Guitarists, but other instrumentalists solo albums were on my plate as well. At one point, I bet, my collection consisted of 75-80% Instrumental CDs. Shrapnel Records led the way, then other similar labels came along before the field got saturated by independently released projects. Some of those indy albums were just as good as the big-boys would do but some weren't. Guitar 9 was my go-to online store (before the digital era killed them), where I could easily separate the wheat from the chaff.

Anyway, what I wanted to say, it's nice to see a bloke, traditionally opposed to Instrumental music, such as yourself, expanding his horizon with a great album such as: "Not Of This Earth".

There is still hope for you, my friend.

Ha! Well I'm glad there is still hope for me.

However, I've had the Joe Satriani stuff for a long time. I've got a ton of his releases either on CD or cassette. I'm listening to the 2nd disc of Time Machine right now.

And I did get a couple of albums from Shrapnel Records but they were usually ones that included vocals.
