Classic Rock Bottom

WHAT CLASSIC ROCK (OR JUST PLAIN ROCK) ARE YOU LISTENING TO?

So what are you listening to right now?  Any genre is cool.

For me:

I bought the Ozzy album but haven't listened to it yet.

I have the Huey Lewis album.

How is that Richie Kotzen album? He's supposed to play a show near me soon but I don't know if it is still going to happen or not.

And I have the Cheap Trick album. It was given to me by a friend of mine who is a HUGE fan of the band. The band knows him a bit too. Tom recorded a video birthday greeting for the guy's son a few weeks back.

Nice mix of songs on the Kotzen album.  But 50 songs over three discs will not lead to a bunch of repeated listens.  It’s too long to listen in one or even two sittings.  It would have been cool for him to release it as three separately titled CDs.

That's kind of what I thought. I had the chance to do the review of the album for KNAC but passed on it because I figured it would take forever to write a comprehensive review of 50 songs.

Too ambitious.
I don't think Artists realize that just because they can write/record/release a whole bunch of songs at once, they should.

Personally I'm for
10 songs /album (or even 8 is great)
40 minutes length
and at least 1 Instrumental obligation

And for Instrumental albums
3-minute songs (or less)
28-35 minutes album lengths

Exception for Prog Rock, but also restraint should be practiced.

And if they don't have enough material for a "GREAT" album... Then keep writing. I'm sick and tired of albums aimed at today's (I listen to my music while I'm on my smartphone) generation, where every song has to sound exactly the same because people are like zombies. So, the repetitious tone has to flow continuously for them to register. Bands that have variety in their material stand no chance against this mentality. To a droned out costumers they sound like brief Morse-codes.

I agree, 8-10 songs, 40 minutes.  That is perfect!
