Firehouse was a late discovery for me. In the first half of the '90s, I spent the little time and money I had on researching and buying mostly Instrumental albums and was not aware of these guys. Not until 2007 when I bought Bill Leverty's solo CD and did some research on him to notice the name Firehouse pop up. Found the S/T CD in a second-hand store and fell in love with it immediately. Although, I have to agree with you "Love Of The Lifetime" is one of those songs that gives me the heebie-jeebies.

I find it baffling that this song together with so many mediocre ballads from the era did so well on the charts, yet the majority of them have no lasting qualities. It's not like there was a shortage of great ballads throughout the '80s and '90s. Did everything had to be a hit too?

The lack of staying power for a lot of ballads from the 80's is why I usually am so down on them in my articles. "Love of a Lifetime" is damn near the best example of the worst of the bunch.
