I don't have those two Judas Priest albums. I bought Jugulator but absolutely hated it so I got rid of it and never bought Demolition.

I have the Kiss album and did a Cassette Chronicles article on it.

And that Joel Hoekstra's 13 album is phenomenal! I still bring it with me to work everyday so I can listen to it whenever I want.

Interesting.
I bought "Jagulator" when it came out. Gave it a superficial sample, and only had one question on my mind: WTF!? Then I put it on the "later" pile. And I only ended up having "Demolition", because it was the CD of the Month at Columbia House, and first I forgot to cancel it, then I was busy to return it. So I heard both albums in full for the first time just now.

In meantime, two things worked in favor of these CDs.
1. With the return of Halford, Judas Priest managed to record a few stinkers... and
2. I went in with different expectations... so,

"Jagulator" has these needless (sometimes lengthy) intros at the beginning of EVERY single song which killed the flow, with occasional and just as boring, although, shorter outro's. The other error was allowing Ripper to sing like he replaced King Diamond, not Halford. Impressive low and high registers, just out of place on this album. The music is great, and so are the solos. An easy fix would be to trim the songs down to the good parts and pull an "Ozzy Osbourne" by replacing Ripper with Halford. I'd say "Jagulator" is a diamond in the rough.

"Demolition" showed restraint in intros, and while Ripper was still exhibiting vocal ranges, he strayed from the extremes. The quality of the songs as well as the solos are of the same as on the previous release. With a total of 13 tracks, there is room for a compact sacrifice, (perhaps 8 would be a good number) but overall I'm pleased with "Demolition".

Almost wish I could agree with what you wrote because you do a good job of selling what you think of the albums.

But I just have no interest in hearing the albums at this point.

Ha-ha.
There goes my commission.

Iron Maiden—Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son
Europe—Start From The Dark
Supertramp—Breakfast In America
Kansas—Point Of Know Return
The Alan Parsons Project—Turn Of A Friendly Card
Judas Priest—Living After Midnight: The Best Of Judas Priest

I've got the Maiden album of course.

That Europe album is on my want list.
