I picked up the new Blind Guardian CD The God Machine today.

I picked up the new Ozzy Osbourne album Patient Number 9 today.

I also grabbed used copies of Cinderella's Night Songs and Still Climbing albums. It was the first time I've ever seen that latter album in the wild.

I finally caved and picked up the Destroyer Deluxe box.

I also grabbed Kiss Off The Soundboard Des Moines and for my son a copy of the Stranger Things Season 4 Soundtrack.

Today's haul:

The new House of Lords CD Saints And Sinners.

Used copies of Night Ranger's Seven and Lou Gramm's Ready Or Not.

Purchased from Yngve's CD Sell-Off threads, they arrived today!

Billy Idol - S/T

Billy Idol - Rebel Yell (Expanded)

Alice Cooper - Hey Stoopid

Alice Cooper - Trash

Danger Danger - Screw It!

Fate - Scratch 'N Sniff (okay that was a throw-in but still cool)

I picked up the new Queensryche CD Digital Noise Alliance.

I haven’t made up my mind on this one yet.

My copy of the new Billy Idol EP The Cage arrived today.

I had a damn good week of a new/new-to-me music haul.

First up was the physical copy of the Love In Chains debut album Everyday Heroes. I had reviewed the album via a download link I was sent from the PR company. But I loved the album and wanted my own copy. I had to wait a bit to order it, but it is now in my hands.

And then came my visit today to my friend's shop Purchase Street Records. I saw a post on Facebook that said they'd recently purchased a 4,000 disc collection. I messaged my friend to make sure today would be a good day to come by to check out the new stuff. He said it was but only what they'd already gone through and put out on the floor. That's fine, not like I could buy everything anyway. He also said he was getting another 2,000 disc collection soon too. (That turned out to be today).

So when I got there, he actually said I could go in the back and check out some of the stuff that was still in boxes that they had sorted but not put out yet. Most of that stuff was material I wasn't interested in. But there were three Meatloaf albums that I'd never seen in the wild before. One of which was still in its original wrapper.

Then I checked out the racks on the shop floor and found 8 more discs I HAD to have (amongst a lot more that I couldn't afford right now). And there were TWO albums there that had never been opened either.

So here's the list of what I got from the shop:

Overkill - Horrorscope
Overkill - The Killing Kind
Overkill - Immortalis
Night Ranger - 7 Wishes
Onslaught - In Search Of Sanity (with Steve Grimmett on vocals)
Suicidal Tendencies - Lights...Camera...Revolution
Meatloaf - Dead Ringer
Meatloaf - Bad Attitude (still in wrapper)
Meatloaf - Blind Before I Stop
Dee Snider - We Are The Ones (still in wrapper)
Fates Warning - Night On Brocken (still in wrapper)

BTW, I ended up paying just under 4 bucks apiece for these discs when it averaged out.

4000-2000 disc collection ending up in a second-hand store?
Is there a story behind them? How did someone choose secondhand with such a huge number? I can't imagine they got much for the whole thing. The prices you paid confirm that. And what is the selection? Was someone specifically into a genre or was it a mixed bag? I hope you can elaborate more on this.

The biggest drop I saw was about 10 years ago at the place I visited almost weekly. More for the comics than music as they had a very small batch of CDs, but one day the owner called me to stop by on the weekend. I got the call on Wednesday. Someone dropped off a 1000 CD collection. Couldn't resist, so I left right away before it got picked through. When I arrived someone already bought a couple of CDs, but I still got to see most of them. It wasn't a very impressive collection, though. Lots of Meat Loaf (like your place by the sound of it) Asia, Motley Crue, Bon Jovi, Boston, and Foreigner. Pretty standard stuff of what I'm listening to, but the majority was Alternative Rock, Grunge, and Pop like Madonna, and Roxette, Morissette. Very Top 40 heavy. Nothing I liked and haven't had, and definitely no rare CDs.

The owner was surprised I was leaving empty-handed, so she mentioned that the same guy dropped off nearly an entire run of the Deadpool comics. I was just getting into that series, so I only had a few books in my collection and the batch he brought in wasn't even put out for sale yet because the store owner still had to price them. Without knowing which numbers I already had in my collection I picked up the whole run (minus the 2 Punisher appearance issues) for $200 tax included. Ended up with a few doubles, but at least my trip wasn't a complete waste.

I don't know how he gets the stuff but I know he does. A couple years back, he got a 5,000 disc collection from someone. I know that because I helped sort through it at his house (and bought a number of them).

It's a mixed bag of stuff for the 2,000 lot (a lot of 90's music, not much ROCK) but the bigger lot is a lot of hair metal, rock, thrash I'm told.)

And the price I paid did include a discount. I'll have to go back over the next few weeks if I can manage it as the material gets sorted through by the staff.

I stopped by Purchase Street Records again and I got to go through stuff that hadn't been put out on the floor yet.

I came away with the following:

Julliet - S/T
TNT - Realized Fantasies
TNT - My Religion
TNT - All The Way To The Sun
Testament - Demonic (signed by Chuck Billy)
Arcade - S/T (still in wrapper)
Arcade - A/2
Overkill - Taking Over
Night Ranger - Big Life
Night Ranger - Neverland
Night Ranger - Hole In The Sun
Accept - Predator
Tesla - Real To Reel (this collects the two volumes that were released individually)
Tesla - Forever More
