Okay, so what movies from the year 2011 have you seen? Want to see?
Well, so far that I can remember I've seen:
Get Low starring Robert Duvall about a hermit in the 1930's who goes about having a funeral party BEFORE his death. I'm not quite sure what I was expecting but despite my fandom for Duvall, I was disappointed in this movie.
Last night I went to theater and saw the movie Hanna. Saoirse Ronan was good in the title role but otherwise this movie was a let down as well. Cate Blanchett's southern accent was distracting, the quick cut camera editing was annoying and when the reason why everyone wanted Hanna was revealed, all I could think was that they kind of ripped off the comic book back story of Captain America a bit.
Other movies I'm looking forward to seeing are: Green Lantern, Thor, Conan The Barbarian, Fast Five and Beautiful Boy. The last one is about parents who hear about a shooting on a campus where there son goes to school, only to find out it was their son who did the shootings. I saw the trailer on On Demand and it looked intense.

I thought the first Hulk was awful except for the fight scene with the 3 dogs (I think it was 3, it's been a while since I watched it), but I thought the second one with Ed Norton was pretty decent.
Kristen Wiig stars as Annie who's best friend Lillian (played by Maya Rudolph) get's engaged and makes her the Maid Of Honor. While her life is not exactly going the greatest, Annie is going to try and do her best to make Lillian happy.
Annie's living arrangement is not exactly the best. She's a roommate with a gentleman from Britain that also has his sister living there with them even though the sister is actually only there on a visa. When Annie mentions that since there are 3 of them living there that the rent should be divided up 3 ways... the idea is quickly quashed though as she claims that since she is there on a visa, she can't make any money unless she prostitutes herself on the street corner. Later in the movie though the brother and sister kick her out and Annie is forced to go live with her mom.
Anyway, try as she might, her attempts at doing the things that a maid of honor does don't quite turn out as she would like. Her, Lillian and the bridesmaids go out to dinner at a Brazilian restaurant and then proceed to a dress shop to look at dresses for the bridesmaids. Unfortunately the meal they had before hitting the shop has made all but one of them sick and they end up puking or... well... you know. There are more misadventures as things progress.. a trip to Las Vegas ends up becoming a trip to Wyoming as Annie's drunk and drugged behavior get's the whole group kicked off a plane.
Overall the movie was decent enough, the humor was crude at times so if your easily offended then you might opt for something else. I of course like all sorts of humor so the crude jokes and such didn't bother me... I was laughing as much as the other people in the theater.
I'm going to give this movie a 8 1/2 out of 10!
Fast Five is the newest sequel in the Fast & The Furious series, reuniting Vin Diesel and Paul Walker who are now both on the same side as opposed to their original sides in the first movie. Dwayne Johnson also stars in this film as a tough as nails US Federal Agent, bent on making sure that he gets the guys.
After busting Dom (Vin Diesel) out of the hands of the authorities during a daring rescue, Brian (Walker) and Mia (Jordana Brewster), Brain's girlfriend, all head south of the border to Rio. Once down there they meet up with a old friend who knows that everyone is hurting for cash so he mentions that he has a job lined up. The job consist of removing 3 exotic cars off of a moving train, not exactly a easy job but one they can do none the less. During the job, the feds on the train get shot and killed and Dom and Brian are said to be the shooters. So now the guys are not only in trouble with American authorities, they have the locals on their case too. Throw in a corrupt businessman and the guys have their work cut out.
I've never been a huge fan of this series but I do have to admit that this film did look like it might be decent and it ended up being worth seeing. I couldn't say that it will win any Oscar's or anything like that but if your looking for a fun popcorn movie with plenty of action and fast cars then this movie will be for you.
I'm going to give this film a 8 out of 10!
I liked the first and fourth movies and now with the fifth entry into the series all I can say is WAHOO!
I loved this film and given the HUGE twist at the end of the movie, I am onboard should they do a 6th movie.
Russel Brand stars in this remake of the original movie of the same name, reprising the role that Dudley Moore made famous back in the 80's.
Most of you are already familiar with the basic story line but for those that are not, it basically comes down to Arthur being a extremely spoiled rich kid that pretty much does anything and everything he wants. His mother comes to the conclusion though that she can no longer let him waste his life and so she arranges a marriage for him, regardless of the fact that he's not interested in the future wife, telling him that if he doesn't marry the woman that he will be cut off from his fortune. At about the same time, he meets a woman that he does feel something for.. the problems of course rise when the woman he wants isn't the one he's going to marry.
For the most part this remake wasn't to bad, I've seen better, I've seen worse remakes. If you like Russel Brand that will help though as he does seem to have his own style. Helen Mirren stars as Arthur's nanny and does a pretty good job in the role.
I'm going to give this film a 7 1/2 out of 10!
Love the original! The trailers didnt do this film any favors as it seemed to me that instead of remaking the film, they took it and made the jokes more crude and thats about it. I could be wrong, but the trailers led me to that conclusion, and therefore it was NOGO for me...
Enjoying reading your reviews, Nice job...
