Classic Rock Bottom

So, another year is in the books, and despite all of the talk about rock music being dead, we are still getting some great music from classic bands and newer bands alike.

The Top 10 was compiled by nominations from six of our members.  Each member sent in a list of their personal Top 10 albums and I crunched the numbers.  Basically, it worked like this.  Each album listed received a point value ranging from 1 to 10.  If an album was number one on someone's list, it got 10 points.  Tenth place albums got 1 point and so forth and so on.  I then looked only at albums that appeared on more than one person's list.  I added up the total point value and added 1 bonus point for each list that album appeared on.  That total is what determined the Top 10 list for Classic Rock Bottom.  Each albums point total is in parenthesis beside the album name.

After you read the list, please comment.  Let us know what you think.  Also, please feel free to include your personal Top 10 Albums of 2011.

So without further delay, here are Classic Rock Bottom's Top 10 Albums for 2011.

1. Black Country Communion - 2 (37)

 2. Foo Fighters - Wasting Light (30)

3. Whitesnake - Forevermore (26)

4. Chickenfoot - III (20)

5. Electric Boys - And Them Boys Done Swing (18)

6. Dream Theater - A Dramatic Turn Of Events (16)

7. Neal Morse - Testimony 2 (15)

8. Warrant - Rockaholic (15)

Cool. Has the Opeth been posted in a NMC, or Album of the Week yet?

Anyway, I appreicate all you guys who make this site such an excellent site. And the funny thing is...without it being posted here, I never would have bought the Warrant. I thought they were ok back in the 80's, but not that great. But I really love the new one. Also, never would have heard the Electric Boys release, without this site.

So, its great to have the chance to hear...and like...OR NOT  something we never would have heard before. Like the D.A.D., I really liked that, and added it to my list. Actually finding it with it not costing too much may be difficult, but at least now, I'm aware of it.

So thanks again to RJHog, Niels, Jon, Scott...I want you all to know you are appreciated!!

Thanks bro.  Click HERE to go to the NMC featuring Heritage by Opeth.

Thanks RJ! Listening to this right now...almost through both, and I will say that the level of musicianship is over the top! But, neither is really for me. But I do appreciate the opportunity to check it out!

Plus Opeth has been features in Lost/Forgotten!! And here's the link: http://classic-rock-bottom.ning.com/forum/topics/lostforgotten-albu...

Death metal is what they started out as, they did have the cookie monster vocals. With each progressive album, they shied away from it more and more....

I have all the Opeth studio albums, like them all but especially the last 6

I saw D.A.D. back on their No Fuel Left For the Pilgrims tour when they opened for Badlands. Stood next to the drummer for the Badlands set.

Badlands? With Jake E Lee?

Here's my list that was used in the final determination, but I'm definitely changing my list soon:

1. Foo Fighters - Wasting Light

2. Sixx: A.M. - This Is Gonna Hurt

3. Chickenfoot - III

4. Black Country Communion - 2

5. Night Ranger - Somewhere In California

6. Black Stone Cherry - Between The Devil And The Deep Blue Sea

7. Warrant - Rockaholic

8. Anthrax - Worship Music

9. Dream Theater - A Dramatic Turn Of Events

10. Mastodon - The Hunter

I'm gonna add Opeth and subtract Mastodon, but I'm not sure how high to rank Opeth yet.
