MOTLEY CRUE - GIRLS GIRLS GIRLS

On May 15, 1987, Motley Crue released Girls Girls Girls, their fourth studio album.  It was a mega hit, topping out at over 4 million albums sold in the U.S. and hitting number 2 on the Billboard charts.   The title track landed just outside of the Top 10 at number 12, and for my money, Wild Side is one of the band's best tracks outside of the first two albums.  I don't love this one and I don't hate it, it lies somewhere near the middle.  What about you?

I still like this album, it works well, and WildSide is easily Crues best tune (IMHO).  Id rank this higher than Too Fast For Love

I do like good production, but I prefer the rawness of the debut as far as this band goes (over this album).

I actually thought, that this was okay, when it was released, especially "Wild Side", but it was probably because I bought it on a sunny summerday in 1987. I got tired of the album pretty fast, and havne't heard it in full since.....1987. Still it wasn't the last Crüe-album I bought. What a waste of money.

Ahhh...the first album in which they decided to use the "Nasty Habits" (the female background singers). This helped keep them popular with the radio and MTV, but it didn't do much for their credibility. Nonetheless, it added a poppy sound that probably helped push a million albums or so at the time. The backing vocals are especially prominent on the rarer played tunes, such as "Dancing on Glass." This album was very strong for the era, but filler material such as "Nona" and the cover tune, "Jailhouse Rock" maybe should have been omitted. Again, visually MC changed their look on this album, and paved the way for other bands to shy away from the bright colors and spandex, and return to leather and denim.
