Wow, those guys still put on an excellent show. Here is the set list:
Borrowed Time (with a medley of Mr. Roboto and Rockin' The Paradise) The Grand Illusion Too Much Time On My Hands Lady Lorelei Snow Blind I Am The Walrus High Enough (this song was awesome) Crystal Ball Suite Madame Blue Fooling Yourself (The Angry Young Man) Blue Collar Man (Long Nights) Miss America Come Sail Away
Encore:
Renegade (with guitar battle between JY and Tommy, and a drum solo)
That's a pretty good setlist, but I wanted to hear something from
Cyclorama. The band sounds great. I just can't explain how good the
vocals are, and Tommy's voice is outstanding. I never realized how short
he is, but he had a couple of guitars that were almost as big as him.
The venue was small, probably seating no more than 1000, but it was only
around half full. That's kind of embarrasing, but what can you do?
In going to summarize my thoughts on Styx and their current state....
- Gowan, talented but irritating to watch live
- Tommy and JY need to swallow some pride and get Dennis back
- CANT get into Cyclorama
- CAN get into Dennis' 100 years from Now
- Songwriting not Tommy and JY's strength without Dennis to assist
My Styx fandom is on 100% hold since the disappontment that was Brand New World...
