This week's album comes from 1992. It's Alice In Chains'  sophomore effort Dirt.  The album reached as high as number 6 on the Billboard 200, and as of 2000 has been certified 4 X Platinum by the RIAA.  The album had 5 singles, all of which are very good in my opinion except Angry Chair, that one is just okay to me.  This is typical AIC subject matter, gloom, despair and agony on me (I stole that line from He-Haw, I bet not many of you remember that show).

You know, in my opinion, this is one of those albums with some very good songs.  And an album with some crappy songs.  And that's just it.  Either it's very good to me, or it's crappy to me.  The only song on the album that is somewhere in between is the aforementioned Angry Chair.

As far as the album cover goes, I like it.  No particular reason why, it just appeals to me.  The album is still readily available.  You can get it new from Amazon for a little over 7 dollars.

hahaha, love how you wove Hee Haw into this!  I think thats probably the best desciption of this band Ive ever heard...  I have never been able to get into this band, not sure this is for me, but I will try to listen again sometime later.
I was aware that you weren't much of a fan.  I don't think this will change your mind.  You may just wanna catch the songs with the asterisks...
I bought this album in '94, and even though I was a pretty big Grunge-fan, I never really liked it. I HATE the way, he sings in a "double-voice" all the time. And it's too god damn dark!! Best song is definetly "Would?" 5/10.
Niels, I think the "double voice" is actually Layne Staley and Jerry Cantrell.  That's why the newest album still sounds so much like the old AIC.  That is their style, which from what I understand, was somewhat copied by Godsmack.
Allright then. Then I'll know, I have to "stay away" from Godsmack!!
I actually have this album and it's a'ight. The only Alice In Chains album I'll probably ever own. However, Jerry Cantrell's solo stuff is really quite excellent.
I agree...this album has some good cuts, but overall, I just dont like it enough to have it in rotation. However, for those of you who have never heard it, their debut album, Facelift, is a great listen. Much, much better than anything else they ever did, in my opinion.
I agree with you Gordon.
