NEW MUSIC CORNER #4 (OZZY OSBOURNE/BLACKWOOD CREEK/SISTER HAZEL)

Ozzy Osbourne - Scream (June 2010)

1. Let It Die

2. Let Me Hear You Scream

3. Soul Sucker

4. Diggin' Me Down

5. Time

Ozzy's latest release.  It's much better than I thought it would be. It's really heavy, which I like.

Blackwood Creek - Blackwood Creek (November 2009)

6. Out In Outer Space

7. Nothing But The Sun

8. Your Revolution

9. Dead Stung

10. Albatross

11. Love Inspector

Excellent debut album from Kip Winger's pre-Winger band.  Favorite tracks are Nothing But The Sun, Albatross and Love Inspector.  The latter is extremely cheesy and juvenile, which must be why I like it so much.  I love the vocals.  This album is a cross between Kip's solo material and Winger, though the guitar player is no Reb Beach.  But he fits this band well.

Sister Hazel - Release (August 2009)

12. Release

13. Take A Bow

14. Better Way

15. One Life

16. Ghost In The Crowd

Sister Hazel's latest release.  If you don't know this band, they are a rock band that, to me, is easy listening.  My favorite track here is One Life, but each of these is terrific.

I was stylistically transported to all sorts of places listening to this NMC. I kinda liked the Ozzy stuff, little dark anf down tuned for my taste, but actually coudl hear some good stuff in there.

The Pre-Winger band Blackwwod creek is new to me, and Im not very well versed in Winger, so they were a new listening experience.

Sister Hazel, another new listening experience. My mind immediately went to Counting Crows... Kind of a 90's throwback...

Good stuff...
Okay, here's my verdict:

Ozzy do not really impress me. The best song here is "Time". BTW the start of "Diggin me down" sounds like something from "Diary of a Madman".

I like some of the Blackwood Creek, especially "Nothing but the sun". The start of "out in outer space" sounded like "Girls got a rythm" (AC/DC).

The one I liked the best was Sister Hazel. I liked "Take a bow" the best. I agree with scott, that Counting Crows comes to mind, but also Train and Del Amitri. And you're right, RJhog, it is easy listening, and that's sometimes just the thing.
