I lived in Sweden at the time of their first album as well as when this project was released.
I like 'em both and spin them often. That being said, I don't remember seeing their music spots on TV, nor hearing their songs on the radio. Grunge can't be blamed, because the whole movement didn't make much of a dent in Europe and especially not in Sweden where people remained very much partial to melodic stuff.

I do agree with your assessment.
It's not a perfect 10/10 album, but still very entertaining.
