It is America's 247th Birthday, on the day the Declaration Of Independence was approved and ratified, July 4th, 1776.

Older than me, but I'm pretty damned independent too!

Spring is Mating Season for Birds as well as many other earthly creatures.

Although humans mate all year round, studies have found that counting back from birth dates indicates two peak periods- The Holidays (Christmas and New Year) and Late Spring!

ROCKOLLECTIONS: MEMORIAL DAY PT.2

The Memorial Day Remembrance concludes but in my heart continues the other 364 days.

This time, I'll open with a song about a guy who, I hate to say it, would have made it easier on his family and himself if he had not come home from war overseas.

The song contains probably the most powerful metaphor I have ever heard!

ROCKOLLECTIONS: MEMORIAL DAY PT.1

Memorial Day is May 29th, it used to always be on May 30th before our fixation with Monday Holidays.

It is a day of Remembrance for those who have died in our nation's service- the ultimate sacrifice.

I'll open with a song that is also a Poem, taken word for word from Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.

And later, a song adapted from a Poem- this one written in 1942 by a not famous woman, Elma Dean, an Oakland housewife just doing her part during WWII.
